I used to be you. There were girls who I wanted to date, ones that thought I was "great" but didn't feel that "chemistry". All these girls talk in "cliches" when they are trying to explain things without directly hurting your feelings.
Do yourself a favor. Walk away from her now. It is pretty tough to have purely platonic relationships with members of the opposite sex, especially when you are young. You will get unnecessary grey hair. What's worse however, and this I emphasize, YOU WILL MISS OUT ON A BUNCH OF OTHER GIRLS WHO COULD BE GREAT FOR YOU!!!!!!! I agree with Mike up to a point - that taking legit threads and having them devolve into name calling is childish and takes away from the board. On the topic of the board though, (IMHO) it is a place where people who have 1 common thing - listeners to Ron and Fez, current or past - can go and discuss the show, or any other topic they want. Hence the discussions on the main page today - Hussein, Hot Sauce, Return of the King.

If we all just take a chill about jumping on people's backs when they say saomething stupid, while trying to encourage using exsting threads (as I know a couple of people here have thread proliferation instead of using existing ones as a pet peeve) things would be better.

Also, let's face it, things have been bumpy the past year wrt who listens and who doesnt, so strict show discussion's down a bit.

If it's that miserable/horrible/awful/depressing to be here, leave, straight up. Why keep punishing yourself with this misery?

Bill summed it up...it's a board for people who are fans of the show and of R&F to come and meet and talk and discuss various topics. They can talk about the show if they want...but they don't have to. The board is still much more NYC-centered than anything else, and since the show isn't there we've had a real drop off of regular posters. This shouldn't suprise anyone. The board isn't really plugged like it was on WNEW, so that's why you have less people diving right into it. There's still plenty of people signing up who simply are content to lurk. We're not here to force people to post. If they don't want to, they don't want to.

We're not "censoring" anything. The main things we're trying to stop are threads that degenerate into personal attacks (Much as this one had, thought of course if any of us locked it now, oooh, "censorship", right?) or "shock posts." It's usually not the content of these posts themselves, but simply the fact that all they are are threads where everyone posts pictures or posts complaining about how "shocking" it is. We're not "censoring" it...we're locking it because we have three dozen threads exactly like it already! Nobody complains when we lock threads of duplicate topics...why is it different when it's nothing but pictures of lightning or people being electrocuted or Chickenhawk posting again and again how he's "shocked"? Will it magically be funny and relevant and interesting the 64th time?

After the holidays we'll finally have a new updated FAQ that will hopefully address and clear up issues like this.

If you hate posting/coming here, but still feel compelled to post/come here, that's something we can't help you with.

Doing it this way? Yes. I just posted in the "Who locks the most threads" thread that people should contact mods DIRECTLY ASAP with problems like this. I think sometimes we take this board too seriously. There are threads where we should be respectful (threads about loved ones passing away, serious personal situations, etc.) and then other ones where we can fuck around. It always suprises me that a message board created around Ron and Fez (two extremely open-minded guys) can have people that are so judgemental. But those people are the minority. Most of us, I think, just like saying little comments and being creative for a minute or two. This board should be about fun. And if someting someone writes is offensive, boring, or stupid, there are many options that you, the RonFez.net member has. You can reply with a sarcastic comment, an informative remark, or simply move on. I don't see why a small percentage of us get so angry and tell others to "die" and things like that. We can cut on another, but why be so hurtful? Plus, it's pretty weak attacking someone so vehemantly through the faceless internet. So let's have fun, everybody!... I don't know. I guess that wasn't such a good reply. In any event, I have to go and feed my bunny puppet, Peekums, now. Good day.

Seriously? Yes. Quite simply, as I said, we miss things. And then it ends up looking like we're not doing our "mod stuff", or giving people preferential treatment. If it REALLY bugs you and see something like this, tell one of us. Odds are we missed it. Why would we hold it against you? It's more of a "problem" airing things this way since it effectively limits what we can do as opposed to fixing anything.

Look at it this way...the mods aren't honestly here to act as dictators. Just to help the site run with a minimum of problems and conflicts. We're here to HELP and WORK WITH all of you. I'm not saying you have to act like a mod...just if you notice something you think should be dealt with and we missed it, let us know. You don't have to "take notes"...a quick PM or IM saying "check out so and so's post in this thread." And that's it. Now we know and we can decide to do something.

These aren't our jobs and we can't spend our lives here. You've got more posts than I do and I'm sure you can't read everything that's here. If you want our help, I'm offering it.

That's something you will have to live with on this message board Moe because it is not going to change. This message board has been alarmingly biased and unjust in the past so you shouldn't be surprised, outraged yes, but not surprised. In the past I would cite examples of my accusations which would only cause my posts to be edited, deleted or denied so it's not worth it anymore. This is just how this place is. I told Snoogs to knock it off because in rapid succession I saw him jump all over Keith's posting in two different threads. He wasn't just bashing the topic, he was attacking Keith from the get-go. Not just busting his balls, but really laying into him. I didn't ban him or anything, now did I even think about it, I just asked him to lay off. And as I said several times in multiple threads, we can't be here all the time! After that I had to go out, go to work, whatever. If nobody else saw the thread, unfortunately it keeps going if nobody wants to, as Steels said, just ignore the posters that tick them off. It's absolute bullshit. When the hell have we gone out of our way to lock or delete threads about the state of the board? They've been locked when they've sunk into being nothing more than personal attacks/bitch-fests, but not just because they're "about the decay of the board." Lighten the hell up and read the older pages. The amount of threads locked here these days is a mere FRACTION of what was locked, deleted and moved for the first two years of the board. If it happens now, it's an inconvenience at worst, not an "attack." Why would we be so vindictive over a web board? It's not worth it for anyone involved.

Probably the best idea in this thread so far, at least in terms of how avoid getting wrapped up in an ultimately futile board conflict.

Nobody expects everyone to get along here. There are too many different people with too many different personalities. If you come across someone you really can't stand, just ignore them. Especially if it's a thread they started. That way they won't tick you off in the first place. I'll be the first to admit I've gone after people just to make fun of them when I didn't have to. We all bust on each other you for laughs, but it CAN cross a line, and sometimes does.

I've seen "ignore" features on other web sites. Maybe we should invest in something like that here, if it's possible.

And this thread makes me think that a "board suggestion" thread might be in order. If this thread is headed that way, I'll shut it down and start a new one with that in mine.

Ok...I just waded through this entire Payton Place post of a message, and now it's degenerated into something about antiquing with Mojo, which just seems horribly gay, but I felt compelled to actually address your original message with my own little tale of woe:

Right after I turned 16 I met this incredible girl who would become both an friend and an obsession for the next 2 years of our high school. I sat back and watched her date loser after loser after jock after redneck after loser, thinking that at some point she will realize that since I was the only consistant in her life, she would eventually figure out what I had figured out the moment we met.

Never happened.

We stayed friends through college, and afterwards, even working for different divisions at the same organization for a short while. For a long while, she was a really good friend to me, and I believe I was there for her too during some tough time. However, as you will learn when you get older, even the best of friends have a hard time staying friends.

She took a job in California, and after the death of her mother seemed to cut herself off from a lot of people, myself included. The last time we "talked" was two years ago, and I believe it was simply a short e-mail exchange. She never calls when she is in town to visit her father or brothers, and I never am inclined to call her up or drop her a note either.

The biggest problem with setting her up as this perfect soul mate and her not feeling the same was that I wasted a lot of time and blew potential opportunities with other ladies on being this chump. I did date in High School, but in the back of my mind I believe that they were simply used to prove to that one girl that I could date, instead of me actually finding someone that didn't take advantage of me.

My advice is very simple - you need to distance yourself from this girl. It's not her fault she doesn't feel the same for you, and it's not fair to her to have these expectations dumped on her, however by putting her on a pedistal, you are missing out on others who might dig you just as much, so you are also not being fair to yourself - also, it is natural to expect her to take advantage of you if you let her. She doens't even realize it, but she is, and you encourage it because you just like being around her, because she makes you feel better about you. Which is not a bad thing, except (again) the two of you do not feel the same way about each other.

If you can get to a point where you can see her as just a friend, and can (and do) go out looking for other opportunities, then start that friendship back up. A break might be good for her to use for some reflection, but do not expect it.
