Me personally,

Muse
The Flaming Lips
IMA Robot
The Mars Volta
The Darkness

all those bands kick ass. The Darkness espescially, they make 80's rock relevant to today and its all just a big joke/homage to band like AC/DC and Thin Lizzy.

I've really been diggin Josh Rouse's latest album "1972" it's got this old school 70's groove to it.

the Thrills is the best band to come out this year. Buy "So much for the City" now! NOW! fuckin NOW!

i'm hung up on Fountains of Wayne, especially the song "hung up on you"

most of you won't like him, but if you dig folk-rock, i highly recommend Dan Bern. Pick up either "Fleeting Days" or "New American Language" to start.

Crooked Fingers, Reservoir Songs.

Its only a five song EP, the lead singer is Archers of Loaf frontman Eric Bachmann, if that means anything. But very spare, almost a little creepy. Awesome version of Prince's When You Were Mine.

Oddly enough, this hard rockin' daddy can't get this CD outta the box.
One extremely well written and performed song after another, I haven't heard anything this good in 10 years.
Songs of love, hearts breaking, longing for another and breaking up. Songs with stories, character sketches and songs that will haunt you, all performed with a trueness and honesty that is refreshing, moving and hard to get over.

I just unpacked some CDs that I was missing from my move (2 months ago). It was like freakin' christmas. So i've busted out the Good Riddance (the newest one), Sublime (40 oz. to freedom), Frenzal Rhomb (Sans Souci), and Cock Sparrer.

Plus I went to Smash yesterday and purchased the Rocket From the Tombs album, and 'greatest riffs' by Bad Brains. Both are excellent. They had the album by my boys the Slumlords sitting up above the rack, which is really cool (I already have a copy, of course).

Something tells me I really need to get that Franz Ferdinand RECORD. It just seems like that would fit on vinyl.

Currently, I am listening to:

The Balck Dahlia Murder (http://www.theblackdahliamurder.com/) - Unhallowed - Metal Blade

The Crown (http://www.thecrownonline.com/) - Possessed 13 - Metal Blade

Ween (http://www.ween.com/chocodog/ween/) - Live In Chicago - Sanctuary

Velvet Revolver (http://www.velvetrevolver.com/home/home.asp) - Contraband - RCA

Black Label Society (http://www.blacklabelsociety.net/) - Hangover Music, The Blessed Hellride and 1919 Eternal - Sanctuary

Kenny Rogers (http://www.kennyrogers.com/) - 42 Ultimate Hits - Capitol

The Raspberries (http://www.ericcarmen.com/) - Greatest Hits - Capitol/EMI

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules, Heaven & Hell - WB

Thin Lizzy (http://www.thin-lizzy.net/) - Entire Catalog

Honourable mentions: Mastodon, Iced Earth, In Flames and Rollins Spoken Word is ALWAYS good for a laugh or reflection.

I have been really down on the punk and hardcore scene as of late as things just got really REALLY stagnant. I bought Remembering never and bayside and they were both not only recycled hardcore I have already heard but it just didn't seem to have any heart to it. its a real shame too because I am looking for some good old FUN Spirit of 84 (or maybe even 93-97) stuff that I loved so much. The last Sick of it All was ok and H2O broke up (I need to fully hear Toby's new band Hazen Street (http://www.hazenst.com/)) and the last Alkaline Trio was thoroughly dissaponting (sorry Keithy) and BAH! just what else is there. I think the lack of quality in the punk hardcore vein got me thirsting for metal again. Not to say that's a bad thing. I go in cycles.

Jack Johnson and Ben Harper

Snoogs, I knew I liked you for a reason, this is it. Jack Johnson is quite possibly my favorite musican ever. I love that him and Harper are good friends and they love to play together, their cover of 'High tide or low tide' is amazing.

I just picked up the new Phish album today, and in all honesty even though I've only listened to it once and haven't given it time to grow on me I think it's pretty bad. Currently I'm hung up on Jack Johnson, Yonder Mountain String Band, Medeski Martin & Wood, moe., Galactic, Dave Matthews, and this guy I just heard for the first time a few days ago named Marc Broussard.

any jack johnson fan is ok in my book. his concert in central park is gonna be sick. Ben Harper's slide guitar is sick, and his voice is better than most, very different. and for anyone who doesnt have it, you should have high tide or low tide, though i hate that they were introed by carson daly.

Let us burn one from end to end,
Then pass it over to me, myyyyy friend

Burn it long, and burn it slow,
to light me up befoooore i go

If you dont like my fire, then dont come around
Cause im gonna burn one down

I wanna go to the central park show with Jack and G. Love so badly but I'm gonna be down in florida for law school by then. my sister got tickets and i'm so jealous, I even checked if they were playing a date down in florida but no luck. If your going, have a good time, I wish I could see the show.

The Mavericks - "What a crying shame"
Billy Joel - a best of
Carole King - Tapestry
Norah Jones - Come away with me
Dixie Chicks - wide open spaces

I keep listening to it hoping not to be depressed by the end of it.

I do like it, but you can tell it's a much more stripped down album. Practically sounds like Tweedy did everything himself. I just think he's torn between which Paul he wants to be. McCartney or Westerberg.

Yeah, I have to agree that Velvet Revolver is AMAZING. The album from start to finish is in the red.

Right now on rotation at the Tattoo Shop:

Velvet Revolver- "Contraband"
Rocky Horror Original London Soundtrack
Motorhead- "Best of Volume 2"
Social Distortion- "Prison Bound"
Stone Temple Pilots - "No.4" (Had to Break it out after all the VR- Really good now that I've listened to it from start to finish.)

And P.S. - Bruce does Suck. I'd like him alot more if he didn't try so hard to be a maintream Tom Waits.

AND THIS COMES FROM A REAL JERSEY BOY!

Black Label Society has me hooked. Not so much the new album, but the 2 prior albums. 1919 Eternall and Blessed Hellride.

Motorhead. A combo of the best of, and some songs I downloaded from the internet, including the cover of Enter Sandman.

Allman Brothers, best of.

ICP, Twiztid, Dark Lotus and all that stuff as well.

Wilco's new album- "A Ghost Is Born." At first I didn't like it that much but like all good records it really grows on you after repeated listenings. I can't wait to see them on tour with Mikeyboy!!

PS- I haven't told Mikeyboy about our plans yet!

I've been stuck on Desaparecidos for over a year now. Connor Oberst is the fucking king! Read Music/Speak Spanish is the most rocking record to come out in the past 10 years.

Good looking out, JohnnyCash. Frusciante is amazing. I think I'm gonna have to listen to the Internet Release when I get home from work.
