I was talking about this when I was in highschool back in the 90's. Is this thing going to have the marines or what?

No, see there's these scientists who find this underground place in the arctic while doing shit up there, and they go in and explore. Turns out that there's aliens that were frozen in there, but since they intruded, they aliens thaw or wake or whatever. But a Predator followed them down into this place...

yeah, it's gonna suck.

I was picturing this was going to take place on an alien world where space marines are hunting aliens and the predator was hunting them both.

Anymore versus movies they are going to butcher?

Lesse, we had Helloween. Michael Meyers vs. Pinhead. They had Clive Barker writing and John Carpenter directing. Just that last sentence alone makes it sound so badass, but the deal fell apart because of the studio. One of the sites reported this info from Doug Bradley (Pinhead).

Freddy vs Jason vs Ash is looking like a go right now.

Batman vs Superman isn't being made right now, but I hear the script was awful.

I'd like to see "HELLOWEEN" but the others I really wish they wouldn't bother - especially the Jason/Freddy/Ash. I loved JvF, and love the EVIL DEAD movies, but these worlds should not merge.

Just throw in Leatherface with Jason and Fred (since New Line owns all of those series now, and since they did revive Leatherface), and make a 4th EVIL DEAD.

Please tell me you're joking and this isn't the plot of this upcoming movie. Because the above describes, exactly, the plot of the movies The Thing, the old 1950s one and the Awesome John Carpenter flick. Only difference was it was Antartica.

I was lucky enough to see Alien in 1979 in theatres. So all of this is quite different from the original movie, which was more about anticipation then actual carnage. I think Cameron's Aliens is a Top Ten Sequel of all time, because he realized, well, we now know what the Alien looks like so, instead of one, why not an army of them? "Game Over Man!"

The first Predator was cool, but I think that movie was, again, all about the anticipation. If not, like Alien, the ensemble acting worked. In my opinion, that was one bad ass cast; Arnold, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, and the other dudes who names escape me. Put those fuckers in Iraq!

Alien3 was cool, in a totally different way. Different, but I like the darker-then-dark tone. I lost it completely with Resurrection. I couldn't swallow That Big of a Movie Pill.

I think I've mentioned this before here, but actually, one film series that seems (to me) to make the most sense is doing a kick ass film/epic , where we learn that the events of THE TERMINATOR lead to the world of THE MATRIX.

Since both worlds revolve around a Christ figure (John Connor/"J.C" and Neo "The One"), it would be cool to explore that aspect of it. Hell, I'm sure it has been explored online already in fan fiction sites.

And I know in "T3" they already used the term "Terminatrix," but it would have been a cool name for this little work.

((sigh))

Oh well.

See, the reason why this is going to be totally gay is the new need to give movies abbreviations. T2, T3 X-2, etc

And now AVP.

gay.

Well they came out with a comic book of this movie, created by Dark Horse Comics. The premise was the human race was now farming and rasing cattle on other worlds.
The Predators have found the perfect prey with the Aliens. They captured a queen and force her to reproduce eggs and lay them on an alien planet. After they hatch and the Aliens mature into the walking bad-asses the Predators go on a hunting spree. The one planet they choose in the book is one where the humans have started harvesting a 'cattle' farm. (The cattle was of an alien animal that looked like a rhino) that is how the humans got caught up in the fight.
Not a bad idea for this. Ya never know..this movie may be the summer blockbuster. If they keep close to the idea of both creatures. (I wonder if they will mention Danny Glover or Ahhhhnuld's character in this movie?

Alien vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest is the upcoming sequel to 2004's Alien vs. Predator film. In this follow-up to the worldwide hit Alien vs. Predator, the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town — with the residents caught in the middle.

Filming began in September 2006 in Vancouver. Tom Woodruff, Jr. and Alec Gillis from Amalgamated Dynamics (ADI), veterans of the first AVP and all the previous ALIEN sequels, will be handling the creature FX for the encore film as they did for the previous installments.

I actually really liked Alien vs. Predator. I thought the concept was kinda cool, how they used the aliens for train the predator warriors. I'm not sure how I feel about a sequel though. I'm sure it will suck, like most every other sequel (road warrior excluded).

I concur with your view of the first movie, but I will probably be stupid enough to watch the new one.

However, I will get a bootleg or watch it online so they won't be able to screw me over as badly as they did for the first movie.

If you want a real treat, get the first set of Alien Vs. Predator comics. They should still be out as a graphic novel/collection. Hell, there were several AVP series that were really good.

If you liked the movie, these stories will blow you away. The comics are infinitely better than the movie (which stole several key concepts from the comic, but blew it overall).

OK, what is the deal with 2 COLD places? Last movie was the Antarctic, now this one is Colorado. In the Predator movies, they determined that the Predators were drawn by heat and conflict. Why suddenly go to cold weather?

I can see the Antarctic because they had an ancient pyramid there and it used to be warm, but why the hell would they be drawn to Colorado? This story better not suck.

I don't live in NY, but face it: Colorado is just not known as a "Hot" state. It's known for the Rocky Mountains, skiing, etc., which are more closely related to the Cold than they are to heat.

I don't know, I just don't have a lot of faith in this new movie - the last one was too disappointing to me.

You must never have been to Colorado. It is as hot as a heap of severed dicks in the summer. In the winter, the air is so devoid of moisture that it does a weird thing with the perceived temperature and you will see people wandering about the snow-covered landscape in shorts and tanks, sweating like several dicks.

I still have trouble beleiving the idea of an Alien/Predator hybrid.
If that was the case wouldnt there be a human/Alien hybrid as well ? Or different species of Alien hybrids since the Aliens are a kind of scourge of the galaxy ?

The Aliens in Alien3 would be based on a human hybrid. The alien gestated in Hicks after Aliens and they crash on the prison planet. So the Queen in Alien3 would be a human hybrid. In fact the only one that wouldn't be would be the dog alien.

Gmann

Just seems to me that there shouldnt be any kind of hybrid species with the Aliens since they need other species to breed regardless. Wouldn't all the Aliens we've seen so far be Alien/Human hybrids ?? You don't see any human characterisics on any of them, but now all of a sudden we have a Predator looking one ? Seems cheap to me.

Ding ding ding. The xenomorph takes certain characteristics of it's host. The xenomorph that was gestated within a dog was quadrupedal, the predalien has the mandibles and "dreadlocks" of a predator, and the regular old "human" version is bipedal like humans, and as a chestburster was pale skinned. All of the other aliens we have seen in the movies have been Alien/Human hybrids.

The predalien is not all of a sudden. It was in the first AvP video game in 1999, which was based on the series of comics from before that. In the pre-Movie, video game/comic canon, the predalien was also purposefully created in a Weyland-Yutani lab for use as a weapon. This was one of the main storylines of the AvP2 game and it's expansion.

Saw it last night.

It's a fun movie. Better then the first AVP. The Alien and Predator fight scenes are great and there are some great moments when the humans get in the way. Nothing special about the human characters - you can pretty much tell who is going to live and who is going to be killed anyway, but that makes for some great laughs. Definately worth seeing on the big screen. I found it much more enjoyable than I Am Legend.
