Let's face it. Cocaine is awesome. I mean if it weren't for cocaine, we'd be lacking some seriously cool music today. So here's to those who said "Cheers" to cocaine when they made their music...
Black Sabbath - Snowblind
Eric Clapton - Cocaine

COCAINE CAN GO TO HELL. Second only to LSD for helping create some of the worst music (And live performances) of the 20th century.

Besides the live performances which I would agree I'm eager to hear examples of the music you speak of.

Everything that was "big" in the 70's. Latter day Pink Floyd. Latter day Led Zeppelin. The Eagles. Fleetwood Mac. Again, OASIS. Coke and music do not mix.

I would completely disagree but each to their own opinions.
Pink Floyd created the bulk of their great albums from 1973 - 1979 with "Wish You were Here", "Animals" "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall".
I have to add this and don't take it the wrong way it is just a stereotype that has played unbelievably precise my ENTIRE life, I mean it is quite frankly uncanny. Anyone I have EVER met that was a "120 Minutes" fan and i mean EVER had a taste in music I would find foul. It NEVER fails. This observation of course is not based entirely on this thread alone. Then again Mojo may feel the same towards my taste in music. However, his taste in movies is fantastic!

Sheeesh racking my brain here...
All I can think of at 4:05am is "Dancing Fool" from Frank Zappa. His kinda-sorta radio hit. Non-Zappa fans should check out. SImilar to the later 'hit' 'Valley Girl', but if we're talking Zappa I wanna talk Baby Snakes so...
Anyway, as to the Cocaine thing and music; seems to me; but there is SO much bad music out there, and I'd say, out of the spectrum of substances, much was speed or coke driven.
I have next to Zero experience with the fun stuff, but I do know musically, as well as in other ways, when you're on that stuff music that a musician might think an iffy track sounds great. Again, this is my vision, could be dead wrong. Booze makes for bad music too; but I think, and this sounds weird, booze-driven good music is like, well, booze; mellower, more emphasis on Quality of notes, as opposed to Quantity. Coke driven sounds like coke: driven, brash, overconfident. But hey, the important stuff is some great music has come out of both; here I will agree that the generation of an altered state of conscoiusness may sometimes help along Music. The harm done is staggering too, but...
These are total stereotypes and I agree on a bazillion exceptions to above; just how things sound to me...

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed
I stuck that lovin' 44 beneath my head
Got up next mornin' and I grabbed that gun
Took a shot of cocaine and away I run
Made a good run but I ran too slow
They overtook me down in Juarez Mexico
Late in the hot joints takin' the pills
In walked the sheriff from Jericho Hill
He said Willy Lee your name is not Jack Brown
You're the dirty heck that shot your woman down
Said yes, oh yes my name is Willy Lee
If you've got the warrant just a-read it to me
Shot her down because she made me sore
I thought I was her daddy but she had five more
When I was arrested I was dressed in black
They put me on a train and they took me back
Had no friend for to go my bail
They slapped my dried up carcass in that county jail
Early next mornin' bout a half past nine
I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Ah, and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said come on you dirty heck into that district court
Into the courtroom my trial began
Where I was handled by twelve honest men
Just before the jury started out
I saw the little judge commence to look about
In about five minutes in walked the man
Holding the verdict in his right hand
The verdict read murder in the first degree
I hollered Lawdy Lawdy, have a mercy on me
The judge he smiled as he picked up his pen
99 years in the Folsom pen
99 years underneath that ground
I can't forget the day I shot that bad bitch down
Come on you've gotta listen unto me
Lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be

Nicely done. My band did a tribute to Johnny Cash a while back, and that was the song that we chose above all his other classics.

Honorable Mention: David Bowie's "Heroes" and Elvis Costello's "Get Happy." By admission of both artists, these albums were written and recorded during coke binges of heroic proportions.

Why are we leaving out Herion.
True dat.
Heroin, for whatever reason, has become the best musical drug over the last 30 years.
Now keep in mind, with both this and coke, I mean in terms of them being the drugs the musicians were using heavily while MAKING the music, not what the music is about itself. Music ABOUT drugs is cheap, juvenile, and way too fucking easy. Music about ADDICTION, on the other hand, is often brilliant. But about the drugs themselves? With very, VERY few exceptions, they are automatically at the bottom of the creative spectrum.

Good point:
Hey, I ain't never coming home
Hey, I'll just wander my own road
Hey, I can't meet you here tomorrow
Say goodbye don't follow
Misery so hollow
Hey you, you're livin' life full throttle
Hey you, pass me down that bottle, yeah
Hey you, you can't shake me round now
I get so lost and don't know how, yeah
And it hurts to care, I'm going down
Forgot my woman, lost my friends
Things I'd done and where I've been
Sleep in sweat the mirrors cold
See my face it's growin' old
Scared to death no reason why
Do whatever to get me by
Think about the things I said
Read the page it's cold and dead
Take me home

COLD TURKEY
John Lennon
Temperature's rising,
fever is high.
Can't see no future,
can't see no sky.
My feet are so heavy,
so is my head.
I wish I was a baby,
I wish I was dead.
Cold turkey has got me on the run.
My body is aching,
goose pimple bone.
Can't see nobody,
leave me alone.
My eyes are wide open,
can't get to sleep.
One thing I am sure of,
I'm in at the deep freeze.
Cold turkey has got me on the run.
Cold turkey has got me on the run.
Thirty-six hours, rolling in pain
praying to someone,
free me again.
Oh, I'll be a good boy,
please, make me well.
I promise you anything,
get me out of this hell.
Cold turkey has got me on the run.

That's "Lit It Up" by Buckecherry! That's the name of the song! I know I'm not Mikeyboy, Stupid Girllll, but I aspire to be. I even am trying to have a baby so I can swap newborn war stories with Mikey. Then he'll invite me over for Christmas and I'll unwrap my presents under his tree and throw fake snow everywhere and say "It's a white Cristmas, everyone, just like Mario Cuomo sang about before he was Senator of Weezer!" and everyone will laugh including the two policemen who, having been called by Mikey's wife, will show me where other presents are and I'll say, "That black ink tickles my fingers, officers!" and we'll all laugh. I just need to make that baby.

Cocaine
You take Sally and I'll take Sue
Their ain't no difference between the two
Cocaine, running all 'round my brain
Headin' down Scott, turnin' up Main
Looking for that girl that sells cocaine
Cocaine, runnin' all 'round my brain
Late last night about a quarter past four
Ladanyi come knockin' down my hotel room door
Where's the cocaine--
It's runnin' all 'round my brain
I was talking to my doctor down at the hospital
He said, Son, it says here you're twenty-seven,
But that's impossible
Cocaine-- you look like you could be forty-five
Now I'm losing touch with reality and I'm almost out of blow
It's such a fine line-- I hate to see it go
Cocaine, runnin' all 'round my brain
