lets say you have this idea abou improving an allready existing product. Do those invention compainies you see on TV really work? And how much does it cost, to patent an idea?

you're better off not going through the companies. To patent something, just go to the patent office's website, fill out the forms and send them a check.

For $39.99 I got my dick patented. it's mine, all mine! And now I've got the paperwork to prove it!
No one else can use it but me!
(No one else was, but y'know, just in case...)

"What if we could mix in the mayo with the tuna and, no wait! we could Feed the Mayo to the Tuna! I'm an idea man, Chuck, I got them popping into my brain all the time! I record them into this tape recorder here. Hey! Is that a picture of your wife?"

"Yeah!"

"Nice frame..."

In my short life I truly believe that I've invented a handful of items only to have them stolen by others. Among them: Car alarm that also rings on your keychain Slot Machine that pays out not in coins, but a receipt that u bring to the cashier (or gives you the option).
Both times, it took about a year after I voiced my ideas to freinds, for the item to show up on the market.
I also believe that the Seinfeld writers followed me around and stole stories from my life, so...

I had an idea for a debit card for the laundromat, this way you dont have the bullshit with the quarters. I have it written down in an envelope that I had the post office stamp all edges with with the date that proves that I had the idea first. Im sure someone thought of it already.
