I'm curious what my fellow axemen on the board think about this list.

39. "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin

I'm not sure how I feel about them including Zeppelin

8. "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Peter Frampton

I would have made this one #1

It's a pretty silly list. He's merely launching wise-ass missives at pretty easy targets, as well slaying sacred cows. Sure we all hate dumbass seventies AOR classic rock pomposity, but is that really a fresh take?

Here are some points that made me scratch my head.

He calls John McLaughlin a bozo? Has he heard his delicate work on Miles Davis' In a Silent Way? Or the intensity of Inner Mounting Flame?

He calls Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," sludge. Sounds pretty swift to me.

He refers to both Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan as overrated. I wouldn't want to step on a stage with either.

He refers to Blue Oyster Cult as awful musicians. I met Buck Dharma a couple years ago and had the pleasure of watching him play unaccompanied electric guitar. He has great chops and a very musical ear.

I kinda like Clapton on the live "Let it Rain." I though it was one of his last really great moments.

He refers to the Skynard boys as "bloated, attitudinal hickoids." This is rock snob chauvinism at its worst. Skynard were one of the better bands of their era, with great musicianship to boot.

Sure, ol' Eddie has had his moments-- he flaunts his nimble fingertips on early VH instrumentals like "Cathedral" and "Eruption." Yet he's probably one of the worst group players in history.

Damn AJ, I was having an alright day until I read this. Then the Peter Frampton thing put me over the edge. To paraphrase an old cliche:

Those who can, do. Those who can't, critique.

The torture Lou Reed inflicts on the listener on "I Heard Her Call My Name" is particularly horrid....but then again, that's why I like it so much...

The one in "Gimme 3 Steps" by Skinard is bad not so much for the playing, but because it is, note for note, the same one in the Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" (or is it "Brown Sugar"?-- I forget)

And Nirvana's "Milk it" didn't make that list?!

Personally I like it, but as a guitar player I get it. As far as what is really considered a solo, it's gotta at least be in the top ten.

I hate lists and anyone whoever creates them.
