View Full Version : In need of a MP3 player

I just upgraded to Windows 2000. I have a ton of Mp3s as well as audio files of a certain radio program I listen to.
I use to have a RealPlayer program to play all of them but it did not survive the upgrade (I thought I copied it but...). I downloaded the RealOne Player, however all of my files are played back sped up, about twice the normal speed. Now it sounds like I'm listening to the Chip & Dale show.
I've tried tinkering with my preferences and sound cards but no dice.
Any advice from the tech savvy out there?
Or, can someone recommend an mp3 player that I would be able to download.
Thanks for your support.

i really don't know anything about any of this technological stuff, but i use windows media player or winamp, and they seem to work pretty well.

I love Apple's iTunes on my Windows 2000 machine. great program (also great for ripping and burning CDs) It works just like the iTunes on Mac but now on grownup computers!
It's free, just give it a try before you make fun of me for suggesting Apple's Software. BTW, Quicktime is great too.

dbPowerAmp is amazing, it's free, completely functional and less invasive than winamp or music match .....

even though sofakingwhat is a tool...
iTunes is great. You can use it to play, burn and organize mp3s.
winamp 2.xx is great for just playback. Don't get winamp 3.

It might be your soundcard. Update to windows2k drivers. That might solve your problem.

yes check your drivers as well as the MS site for Windows Patches and patches to the Media Player - I've got 2000 and both winamp and the built in Media Player and they both work fine.

I love you too, Jon :p
You're 100% right on...
Don't get winamp 3 it'll fuck everything up, but Winamp 2 is great. (You're only 75% right on about me being a tool.)
get iTunes here! (http://www.apple.com/itunes/)
get winamp 2.91 here! (http://classic.winamp.com/)
