Locker Room Showering

How do you feel about showering in a general locker room setting? General meaning one large shower room with multiple shower heads and usually with many members of your gender.

I am completely uncomfortable with this and I have always refused to do so. I would simply leave and take a shower in the comfort of my own home. I was the only athlete that would do this whether it was after hockey or football practice. When I used to go to a gym to workout I would wait till I got home as well. If I had to use the rest room during my work out I'd have to go to the locker room. This was always very uncomfortable for me because there would always be several naked men carousing about. So many times I wanted to say "Put on a fucking towel already!" but I never did.

Now I have been always proud of my body and my penis is grand so this has NOTHING to do with insecurities, at least I don't think so. I was always kind of surprised I was a minority concerning this issue.

Anyone else have an opinion on this subject?

how did the concept of showering enmass pass? i mean, how much more does it cost to throw up a few dividers and a shower curtain or two? never did it, way too gay.

It bothered me a lot, but not for any of the obvious reasons. I was and am waaaaaay nearsighted, and couldn't have focussed on the other guys' dinks if I'd wanted to.

Instead, I tried my damndest to keep from bumping into anyone else. I still can't figure out why we had to take showers, and I had a bit of comedic success by pasting a sheet of paper calling the locker room 'NEARY'S NUDIST CAMP'. Neary, of course, was the Phys Ed teacher.

I was attacked one day in the lockers and had to hand out towels as a punishment for screaming obscenities at my attackers. I remember some worse-than-me dork being put up to yell 'stop looking at my penis' or something like that... I'd have never attacked him before that but afterward he was an enemy.

Personally, I think anyone making kids shower together is a pervert.

I still can't figure out why we had to take showers

This is something most people don't know. Showering after practices and games was a REQUIREMENT. You were told at the beginning of every season by every coach that you had to shower and it was non negotiable. Isn't that the weirdest thing?!?! As far as I know every high school practiced this.

i played fall, winter, and spring sports for all 4 years of high school and never did anyone shower.

the only time i was ever in the shower was for a baseball clinic when i was in grade school. they turned on all the shower heads and we praticed sliding (as in sliding into a base)

yeah, i find it creepy. college was really the only time i was exposed to this, as i didnt' play any sports in school, and the girls never showered after gym class. but, in college, people actually would go to the gym to work out and whatnot. i remember walking into the bathroom, past the open, communal showers with a bunch of women just out in the open, showering. that's weird enough, but it's the way the showers are, and i guess maybe they really felt they needed a shower. i always felt uncomfortable walking past them, but i would do it quickly, eyes down.

the worst part, though, was always that people would then walk around in the locker room proper, before or after taking their showers, completely naked. there were multiple times that i would walk out of my row of lockers and nearly collide with some nude woman. and i'm not talking about hot chicks who were exhibitionists and so proud of their bodies that they felt they just had to go around like that. some of these were older, saggy women. i'm not saying that anyone should be ashamed of their body, no matter what its shape or tone, but really... i can't think of any good reason why people should be walking around like that with nothing on. like steels said, "Put on a fucking towel already!"

My high school had divided showers in the gym, and even then I didn't appreciate the fucking freaks that would come out naked into the locker area. I'd go back to my dorm to shower and dress to avoid them.

It always seemed really strange to me. Seeing a bunch of fellas naked and then seeing them the next day in class.

Maybe it harkens back to Greek or Roman times when men were REALLY men and showered together and tustled eachorhers' hair and stuff like that.

The only time it bothered me was when puberty was kicking in - for most of the guys, not me. Before that, I had no problem with it - either at the gym, or camp, or whatever.

Today, I think I'd have a tougher time around people I knew than strangers. As a general rule, I too think we are too uptight.

Prefer not to but did it in the Navy and at gyms. In the Navy boothcamp they didn't have doors on the toilet stalls which is where i'd rather have a little more privacy...

But i always wore shorts in the sauna. St Peters College had a sauna where you could pour water on the heating area. the steam would feel great...

The only times I felt uncomfortable was 1) in the beginning because I was quite the hairy individual as compared to others my age and thought people would think it was strange (i don't know I was a freshman) and....2) when I made the varsity team as a sophomore and this kid Aamir was in there b/c his dink could touch his knee and mine couldn't

used to shower with the guys when i worked at the Colgate plant. you really had no choice because alot of times you had chemicals and powders all over you. there was a latin guy named Exor who had a long black cock. They called him the 'black snake'. He was a funny guy, we were working a production line and he had the 'filler' end and i was on the other end of the line loading empty cardboard cases. When i would get jams and have to stop the line he would yell "what going on down there?" in his strong latin accent and i'd just smile and then he'd smile back.
There was another guy name Gortie Pote, he was 72 and worked all the OT he could. He lived in North Arlington and hung out in Wee Willies. Funkman, you from Great Mistakes too? Cause when I went there it was the same dela, our "Ship" as they called it, the stalls had no doors only curtains, and the showers were poretty much like any locker room,shower heads side by side.
