in many places, there used to be the "one drop rule".. basically that if you had one drop of non-white blood in you, you were black. other places had different distinctions, like if you were one thirty-second black descended, etc. i'm not sure how many of these classifications still exist and to what extent. so anyway, maybe...

I'll give you that one, but only the first one or two times they did it. The problem with that particular era of SNL is that they would find running characters and run them into the ground, such as the above sketch, the cheerleaders, and Mary Catherine Gallagher. And the basic sketches varied very little from one time to the next.
