What is the choice of song a band decided to cover that surprised you most?
When I was a wedding DJ I had countless amounts of people that refused to believe this was "Faith No More", even after producing the CD!

Disturbed's cover of Shout was a bit out of left field. I don't know if there's a story behind it, and they did do it in their own aggressive style, but did there ever truly need to be a cover of a Tears for Fears song?

ministry's amazing (and faithful) cover of 'friend of the devil' was a bit of a shock

I watched Interview With a Vampire last night, (oops!), and it ended with a Guns & Roses cover of Sympathy for the Devil. Awful! Worse than the movie itself. I came to the conclusion that G&R suck and always have.

The first cover I remember being shocked by was Husker Du remaking the Mary Tyler Moore theme. This was 1985 - long before this sort of thing was chic.

i think Ministry did a cover of a Bob Dylan song (lay lady lay), that and Mushroomhead did a cover of "crazy" by Seal. A lot of the stuff off of the "punk goes pop" album is great. And the "too legit for the pit" comp. is awesome; Stretch Armstrong doing "express yourself" by NWA, F.O. The Smack Magnet doing "the humpty dance" is beautiful and clocked in doing a cover of "new Jack Hustler" by Ice-T is awesome.

I was flipping through VH1 the other day and saw a video for Sheryl Crow doing Rod Stewart's "The First Cut Is The Deepest".
Totally unnecessary.

Damn near everything Sheryl Crow does is totally unnecessary -- especially joining The Stones on stage
But covering "Sweet Child O' Mine": WHY?
