Well, in just a few minutes, Al Sharpton , Democratic Candidate for the US Presidency (makes me giggle everytime I get to say that), will be hosting Saturday Night Live. This made me wonder if an appearance on SNL has ever helped a politician gain the post he seeks. I can only recall Bob Dole doing it, and I think we all know how much it helped him. Oh yeah! The thread topic! Thanks Mojo...okay, so Steve Forbes did it during the campaign? And Bob Dole and Al Gore afterwards. I agree with what someone said (altho attributed to Gore), I thought Bob Dole came off more human and likeable with his appearance and maybe it couldve helped him during the campaign. Oh well. For me, Sharpton's appearance maybe made him seem more likeable, but definately didnt change anyone's minds about not voting for him. He's a bafoon. Entertainment is where he belongs, not politics. Now, President Paris Hilton on the other hand...

Even moreso than appearing on SNL, I think Dole appearing on "The Daily Show" several times as a correspondent or guest really changed a lot of my opinions about his attitude and sense of humor. He really turned out to be a funny and gracious guy. Too bad none of that came across while he was running.

Janet Reno showed up on SNL I think after she was out of office.

Rudy was on while he was in office, and it was probably the main thing besides 9/11 that made people finally hate him less.

Ralph Nader hosted back in the 70's, but I think it somehoe made him LESS likeable.
