i'm with you chris. i used to be that kid, for all the elderly houses in the neighborhood. now it's the elderly and very young couples - got to get a new chain for the snow blower.

Ive used it 3 times today so far, and all I can say is the other people I saw flailing away with their aluminum ones were spending half the time wacking theirs against a telephone pole to get the snow off. Im sure it wont last more than 1 or 2 winters, but I bought it in Shoprite for like $8 bucks, theres no fancy metal edge or anything, and it works great. I resort to an aluminum scoop shovel for the skirt of the driveway where the plow leaves me its "present", 'cause the heavy stuff I think will break it.

I have a cure for that!!! A few years ago, I asked my teen-aged daughter to help me shovel the snow...1 hour later she still hadn't showed up, so I went up to her room and walked in and dumped a shovelful of snow over her head (and her phone)...she got the message!!!!

Note to self...BUY A SNOW BLOWER!!!

I have just spent the last 1.5 hours shoveling a path through 2-3 ft drifts and it is still snowing!!! It's times like this that I miss living in an apartment building and having a super to do this.

My daughter wants to go out and play in this mess and normally I would just open the back door and let her go, free-range style. However, drifts are over her head and she's pissed that Mommy and Daddy are not letting her go outside and recreate the exploits of the South American soccer team from "Alive".

And...my wife is due to deliver soon so I have to be able to get out of here on a moments notice so I have to be out there constantly with a shovel.

I can't wait for football to start today.

Ok, someone explain this to me. Less than a foot of snow falls, and all of the sudden, every shovel in the tri-state area has been sold.


Where the fuck is the one you bought last February? Or the one you should have had even before that? Did ya break it off in your ass on summer break since it wasn't getting used?

So any other day the next "Blizzard of '04" hits, are people just clearing the stores of shovels again?

I have a shovel. I'm not looking for one.

Who else takes the "extra" precautions also?

Like, I parked my car facing out, but I also parked it at the very end of the driveway, so I don't have to shovel it out, just to get on the street. Why bother dealing with shoveling my entire driveway, if I only need enough room for my car and a walking path?

Just have to clear the plow sludge.


And then it's all steaks and cigars after that.
