How Bad Are the Roads Where You Are?

I'm in Manhattan on a street with a mild incline, and cars are having a hell of a time making it up the street. How is it other areas?

Long Island (suffolk county). The L.I.E. is a mess and so are the side streets. I hate driving in the snow.

I saw a Cadillac try to make a right turn to cross over a little railroad crossing hill and it couldnt get up the thing.

In midtown, I just got back from lunch about an hour ago, and there was about 1/4 inch in some spots, but mostly just slippery.

I got a call from a friend of mine who told me that the Turnpike is coated and suggested that I catch an earlier bus home.

Well at lunch (1pm.) the side roads were pretty bad, but where the state is concerned, Route 46 and 80 in NJ were not bad at all (Wayne area).
But it looks like it is getting worse out there right now.
The trip home is going to be hellish.

And speaking of which...why are weather men so fucking stupid. On 880 Am the weatherman said "We are going to have more snow then we know what to do with, we have not seen in a long time"
In a long time? You fucking idiot...what happened this past Presidents day....over TWO FEET OF SNOW in one day.....and this was in feb. of this year.
How much is along time for this guy...one week???

White Plains is a disaster - hills that arent plowed (the roads that are plowed are ok as of 4pm). Yorktown Heights it started around 6 and we have high winds and 2" - much, much more to come...

Vernon NJ....not bad yet. they usually do a good job on most roads around here. with the amount of snow we usually get they are very prepared...except on Tuesday during the 1/4 inch of snow we had that caused HUGE delays with ice. it took me an hour to go a mile from my house. not many problems in a foot of snow, but damn that 1/4 inch.

Caldwell, NJ, rough stuff on the sidestreets, I haven't made it out to Bloomfield ave, but they usually do a good job with that so I'll assume the best. They are plowing and salting but it's just coming down too darn fast. It was well over an inch an hour at points in the afternoon.

Thank god I picked up the Ben Stiller DVD set at Best Buy today before it got really bad and got Hitchcock's Vertigo on DVD and the Bobby Heenan biography at the Library. Something do do while snow bound.
