Anybody what cause this today? I'm watching Imus on MSNBC and he introduces Howard Stern on the phone......Now usually a really bad Stern impersonator gets on and says something unfunny but this time it sounded like Stern and said something like "You wants me to tell everybody about your daughter" They called eachother bitch a few times the I man cut him off and went to break. Anyway it's been confirmed that it was the real Stern, and I'm sure someone here listens and hes been running off about it all mornin and I'm just wondering what the story is.

I haven't heard todays, but yesterday Stern did play a tape of Imus going off on Stern, because Howard had some guy in from Imus' gym. Imus went way, way, way over the line yesterday, but it was pretty funny.

Stern stopped the tape every two seconds and commented on everything Imus said; lots of Imus calling Stern a little bitch, and lots of Stern calling Imus a little bitch, but that was all Stern on tape.

Wish I had heard the actual call.

Oh snap, Bernie just brought up Stern crying like a bitch, curled up in the fetal position sucking his thumb after O&A went after him last year or something. I'd listen to Stern cause I'm sure he's still talking baout it, but I just cant tolorate him for even a second

Right after the phone call to Imus I put on Stern he was saying that Imus has 24 hours to call and apologize or he will feel the "wrath" of Stern's thin skin. He knows where Imus lives and he'd go to his house and yada, yada, yada something about Stern getting a VH1 show off the air Stern spouts and Robin chuckles along.

Guy calls Stern a couple weeks ago and said he saw Imus at the gym. Says Imus can't lift actual weight, just the bar. They make fun of Imus at the gym.

Imus makes fun of Stern on air. (Didn't actually hear this, I don't listen to Imus and didn't hear Stern play the tape)

Stern starts bitching about Imus talking about him because of a ratings discussion from Vermont. (Sounds tangential, but wasn't) Stern goes off how he's had enough of Imus calling Stern his bitch and starts saying he'll tell these two stories he has about Imus, one about Imus' daughter.

Stern yells to Gary to get Imus on the phone. About 5 minutes later, Stern and Imus are on the air together. Stern yells at Imus, tells him he has these stories and Imus cuts Stern off. Imus said maybe one sentence besides his "hyuk hyuk" or "yeah"

Stern says Imus has 24 hours to apologize or the stories go out over the airwaves. He also said he'd get a participant from the daughter story to tell it.

As for the VH1 thing, I guess they mentioned him in the ugly celebrities special last week and he bitched for them to take it off and they did. Stern admitted he's thin skinned.

The sad thing is that Stern doesn't realized that he became Imus years ago. There's little difference between the kind of DJ he claims Imus to be and the kind of DJ he himself is.

He has become the thing he hates.

I actually listened to both shows at the same time. Stern's show runs about ten seconds more delay than Imus' . You could tell the Imus show was thrown into a tizzy. He bailed on the Stern call after about 5 seconds. Stern waited on hold just to see if he had the balls to get back on the phone. Two dudes past their prime but it was still funny. Stern isn't saying anything he hasn't said for years when it comes to Imus. This is the first time Imus has fought back in a while and it caught Stern off guard.
Enough about Oand A already! I'm glad that heart attack and no talent are off the air, but I still miss Ron and Fez in NY.

I didn't see anything, I didn't hear anything, I wasn't there and if I was there I was asleep.

At least I'm not the only one that notices this :)

Stern was great.. a long time ago, but his time has passed. The show's been going downhill ever since he got divorced.

Now it's nothing but advertisements for Trimspa and other stuff he doesn't even use.

"Hey now, what's this?"

"Tampax Tampons!"

"Ah yes! Love them Tampax Tampons. So good!"

Well.. you get the idea. I know Tampax is not a sponsor, but if they paid him enough...

The other twenty minutes each other is him bitching about fat people or trying to act all political.

O & A and R & F.. his clones? If they were his clones, they'd be four bitter men shilling a bunch of crap and talking about politics.

I remember a few times O & A and their callers ripped on the Hman a few times about the fact that half his show's nothing but commercials. I wonder if a O & A rant about that subject caused the gag order? I've never heard the episode that caused the gag order..

Actually, Stern's show was really entertaining when he first got divorced, then he met Beth and the show got boring again.

And thre really isn't one particular thing that got the gag order from Stern, he just didn't like getting bashed.

Actually, Stern's show was really entertaining when he first got divorced, then he met Beth and the show got boring again.

That was maybe when he was the most entertaining, right after the divorce. Afterwards he went from one crutch to another to another - whether if it was too much Cabby, too much of letting the listerners stear the show, too much John or KC, he just doesn't/didn't know what was really good radio anymore, and what was/is for his own amusement.

I can still get a laugh, usually if I catch the show in the first hour, or during the news at the end, but often times the long, long, long commercial breaks turn me off - and my commute into work now is so short, it's just easier putting a CD in.

I'm not a fan of the bands that come in, or most of the guest, and even naked chicks on the radio don't seem as fun. I do love it when they bust on themselves, when Howard's family is on, and when Beet comes in and they have fun with them.

The one "bit" they did this year that I loved, and made it a point to catch most of, was the "World's Meanest Listener" tapes, but they went and ruined that with having one of their buddies win it.

O & A and R & F.. his clones? If they were his clones, they'd be four bitter men shilling a bunch of crap and talking about politics.

Ummmm...yeah...Opie never came across as bitter, Ron and Fez don't talk politics and the four of them never, ever were spokesmen for BMWs, Five Guys Burgers or Stacker 2...

Touche... the boys had to have been paid somehow.

but the advertisements never dominated the show. It's one thing to shill crap, O & A and R & F definitely did that, but it never really dominated the show like it does on Stern.

Stern goes maybe 20-30 minutes then goes right to a long, long break. Any momentum he might be generating is pretty much killed :P

And Opie's definitely had his bitter moments, however, generally he's actually enjoyed his job. Stern doesn't come across to me like someone that enjoys doing his job.

Man, Howard, what happened? :O

Agreed - Stern's breaks are a drag. And (for the record) I don't begrudge any of them from making extra money as spokesmen for the clients - BMW, Stacker 2, or whatever. I actually think it's a good way to gauge how they are doing. More power to them - hell, if I could buy a fleet of BMW X3's, I would, just because Ron and Fez said I should! :)

Stern doesn't come across to me like someone that enjoys doing his job.

He's been getting up early and doing the same job for 20 years.

He keeps doing it because he gets paid very well (he said he was ready to quite before signing that last contract at the end of 2000, Sure I thought it was just a ploy to get more money, but he sounded like he really was ready, they must have offered him too much to say no to)

R&F and O&A are fresh.

Stern done a lot but everyone runs out of new ideas after some point. Give the man a break he's done plenty.

When's his contract up?

so did Stern apologize?

I turned in about 6:45 and he was railing against Imus, saying that Imus needed to apologize. When I listened later (8am) they were talking about other stuff.

From "MarksFriggin.com": More On Imus. 12/5/03. 6:40am
Howard mentioned they have a $20,000 prize coming up next week. Artie told Howard that Benjy wasn't there for some reason. He said he noticed it earlier, made a mental note of it but forgot to tell Howard. Howard said that they forgot to include him in the Karaoke contest yesterday. Howard said he's probably tired from his job or searching the internet for girls. That led to Howard talking about how it's not that much easier to find girls on the web than it is in real life. He said once they see you, you're screwed just as much as in the real world.
Howard took a call from a listener who said that yesterday's show was great with the Imus thing and the Karaoke contest. Howard said there were articles about the whole Imus thing. He said Richard Johnson wrote it up but he's wrong about a lot of the stuff he reports. Howard said that the whole thing started when a caller told him about Imus' workout. Imus got pissed and started bad mouthing Howard's wife and girlfriend. That's when Howard got pissed. Howard went on to talk about how Imus got a lot of ideas from his show and pointed out some of those things. Howard said that he confronted him on the air yesterday but Imus freaked out and hung up within a few seconds. Howard saw the coverage from MSNBC since they cover his show every day. Howard said he watched that and Imus claims that Mel Karmazin likes him better. Howard said that it doesn't matter if Mel likes him better. People like Howard better and that's what counts. He said no one cares about Imus' show anyway. He said that he's waiting for the apology from Imus. He said if Imus doesn't apologize, he's going to tell a story about his daughter on the air. Howard said he hates to damage his daughter on the air but if he has to, then he will. Artie said he was looking forward to an entertaining 10 minute discussion between Howard and Imus but Imus couldn't take it.

Howard was talking about how Imus claims to have more money than he does but it's Rush Limbaugh who seems to have the money. He owns a $24 million house down in Florida. Howard mentioned his drug habit and how he still has money even with that and the house. Robin brought up a story about how Rush's doctor was investigated to find out if Rush was ''doctor shopping'' to get even more drugs. Now Rush is claiming that it's a vendetta. Howard and Robin pointed out that this is the kind of stuff that Rush used to say people shouldn't get away with.

Howard read a little bit from the Richard Johnson article about his fight with Imus. He said there was no fight with Imus because Imus hung up on him immediately. He took a couple of phone calls after that and one guy asked him if he's ever been with a ''real nympho.'' Howard wasn't sure what a real nympho was. He and Artie talked about that for a short time. Artie said he figures that just about every woman he's been with had to have been a nympho because they were sleeping with him. He said he thinks they all had some kind of sexual problems.

Nothing else mentioned for the rest of the day.
