Not if the Tolkien heirs have a say in it.

Apparently, Tolkien sold the film rights in 1969 for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy but the heirs still own the rights to the Hobbit.

The heirs even stopped a permit by Jackson to build a museum for Lord of the Rings.

Read the rest here.

Can't Jackson build a museum based on his films?

new line is still trying to work out the rights with the Tolkeins, but Christopher sees no problem finishing his fathers books and releasing those. I'm sorry, but to me it seems that Christopher should be the only one to profit off his father's works, according to him.

Well, at least he didn't pull a Simon Wells* and ruin his family's literary legacy, A crazy Kiwi made the film and did a great job.

Christopher Tolkein finished his dad's books? Which ones? Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are all J.R.R right?

*Great Grandson of H.G Wells who ruined "Time Machine"

Yes, those books are all JRR, but there were unfinished works, like the Silmarillion.

His son, Christopher, doesn't believe that The Hobbit or any of his father's other works can be adequately represented on-screen, and has resisted any endorsement of the current Lord of the Rings project.
