This idea was sparked by Fuzzybutts' poll.
If you are trying to get home, or head out on a trip and the Parkway/Turnpike Express/Local lanes are backed up but you notice the lane you did not take is flowing smoothly...do you make an illeagle move and cross over to the other lane?
I know I have.....only when i am in a rush though.

i assume by lane you mean from express to local or cars only to cars/trucks/buses and not your normal lane change.

I don't do this only because i know someone who got into a pretty bad accident when someone did that. it pisses me off when i see it happen, because it really is dangerous and more times than not requires a car to stop short or do a quick lane change.

You assume correctly. Sorry if I was not clear enough.

Bowie, Md.: Berkeley, I'm so glad you're back!; I've really missed The Far Side all these years.

Berkeley Breathed: Yes, thank you, but I don't draw Far Side. I draw Calvin and Hobbes.

Hell yeah!
5 days ago I was going down to South Carolina and outside Durham, N.C., there was one mega- mutha of a backup.
I moved about a mile in an hour, and a lot of that came when approaching an off ramp, I noticed cars going down the shoulder of 85.
So I joined in, only to cut back in line at the ramp. I did that twice, and on the 3rd, I went ahead and took the ramp and did a big circle around the city and finally got back on 85 at Lexington.
This to avoid 8 more miles of backup.
I'll also switch lanes as suggested in the thread opener.

Yup, doesn't everyone do it. Especially on 1-9 the Local Truck lane is backed up and the other side (Pulaski Express is free. Why not?

I do it every single time. Law be damned. the places I have to go and things I have do no matter how trivial they may seem are far more important that the law any day of the week.
