Oh my GOD is this the greatest combination of 2 foods EVER!
I only seem to find this west or south of the Tri State, but MAN do I keep and eye out for it on the road!
You get a nice, buttery biscuit. Hot. Delicious.
Then you get some gravy with bits of sausage in it poured over the biscuit. It's a white, creamy gravy.
It sounds like a side dish, but I ate just those for breakfast at a McDonalds in Indiana once. I've had it other places.
Thank you very much.

I know the Wawa's in Central and South Jersey have this and it is quite tasty. Waffle House and Shoney's BY FAR have the best chain wise. The little Mom & Pop Diners have the best though. Homemade rocks the house!

Haven't been there in years.

Do not order this at the Cracker Barrel. I'm not sure if it's sausage gravy to begin with and the gravy had the consistency of jello.

Biscuits and sausage gravy can be improved.Simply get two over medium eggs and smash them on top letting the sweet delicious yolk juice mix down through the pile.

I have been a big fan of biscuits and sausage gravy since I was a kid. It has been years since I have been there, but Bob Evans Restaurant used to have GREAT biscuits and gravy and shouldn't be too hard to find.

I hate all you people.
I totally love biscuits and gravy and bacon and sausage and all the other stuff that makes you drop dead of a heart attack.
I've started going to the doctor a couple of weeks ago because I'm 44 and have a couple issues I needed looked at and he tells me I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol and need to cut down and fats and sodium.
I've been on this diet for 5 days now and it's been good but totally sucks at the same time.
I want my FUCKING cholesterol-loaded-heart-attack-ridden pile of biscuits and gravy now DAMNIT!!!!:nono:

I had something like this at a restaurant in the Poconos...they called it Country Benedict.
Biscuit, Sausage Patty, Poached Egg, Sausage Gravy on top. I almost dropped dead on the spot, but I would have died happy.

Funny that this thread got topped today, I just had IHOP's Biscuits and Gravy. It was 2 biscuits but in half with sausage gravy on top, 4 sausage links, hash browns and 2 eggs. I mean it wasn't down home cookin' good, but it was very good for a chain place.

Sawmill gravy is what some of us southern folk call the white gravy with sausage.
Take that, pour it on your biscuits, and here is the best part that many forget!
Gotta add black pepper and TOMATO slices on the top of each pile of goodness.
Always add the Tomato Slices!!!

There's a place by me here in CT that makes it w/ sweet italian sausage and a tomato based cream sauce.
It's interesting put not the real thing.
I was gonna make it myself for the 1st time this weekend but got lazy and just went w/ eggs, ham and hashbrowns.

Few things in the world of breakfast land have stood a test of timelike good old bisquits and gravy.
When I was working that cow outfit in AZ...every and I mean every morning the cowboys only wanted bisquits and gravy. It didn't matter what I put in the gravy as far as beef, bacon, sausage ets...the most important part of the gravy for a cow hand is that it is made with evaporated canned milk...it seems to make it just a touch more decatant and deliciouse.
You all should give it a try sometime. I think you'll really like it.
Oh yes...and plenty of cracked black pepper.

Nothing beats a drizzle of quality hot sauce on top. And th gravy is very easy to make.
Fry sausage, remove. Discard fat, leaving 2-3 T in the pan. Fry flour, salt, pepper in the remaining fat until nicely browne (roux), stir frequently to avoid sticking burning. Generous quantities of salt and pepper are necessary, but more can always be added later. After the roux is nice and brown, mix milk in small quantities over low heat until the desired consistency is reached. Keep in mind that the gravy should be a little runnier than you'd want, as it thickens very quickly as it cools on your plate. Add the sausage back to the gravy. Voila. I like to mix some chicken stock into with the milk because it adds flavor/saltiness. Some garlic can be added just before the milk/deglaze step for a little more flavor.

I grew up eating biscuits and gravy with fried pork tenderloin nearly every Sunday. I looked forward to it all week. It's been years since I've had it homemade.
