i just got back a little while ago from the Path Mark and got 99.9% of the Thanksgiving shopping done in just under an hour, approx 200.00 worth of items. no lines, no crowd, all i had to do was make my way around the guys stocking the shelves, no big whoop!
figure it would be a good time to ask if anyone else does their shopping in the early morning hours?

Oh man, I used to LIVE at the 24 hour A&P on route 46 in West Paterson for like a year and a half.
Good news is no one is really in the store.
Bad news is there's less fresh stuff, no prepared shit and strange shelf stockers are everywhere. The Deli has been raided and there's only that one roast beef sub without lettuce left.

Oh yea man. Shopping at that time is great.
Looking for something to eat right away is not. I would usually want a sandwich, so I was screwed. If they only had bologna, I'd get the cheap rolls and the 99 cents for 2 meat, use the free mayo from the deli and put together my sandwiches.

I will usually do all the weekly shopping on a Monday or Tuesday after work. Anyone, and I don't care what the hell your excuse is, who shops on the weekend is a glutton for punishment and deserves what they get. Also, the people (with large cold cut orders) that waste a good 20 minutes or more at their supermarket delis because they don't simply write a list of meats and cheeses to drop off at the designated area for such orders are crazy. Almost ALL supermarkets offer this service that is amazingly hardly ever used. Drop off the list when you first walk in and pick up your cold cuts when your done.

true and true steels.
aside from supermarkets, 24 hr anything is the best. gas stations, wal/k marts, fast food joints, etc... until you don't have them, life is grand.

When I was younger, I didn't believe stores or fastfood places would be open 24 hours (Dunkin donuts, white caslte), it was unthinkable in my mind........I'd always planned with my friends to go check it out if it was true but never got around to it till I got older. Our conversation went something like this:
"Did you know that (white castle, dunkin donuts, pathmark) is open 24 hours?"
"Get out of here, no way! So if I go there around 3:17 a.m., it still be open?"
"Yeah!"
"We should check it out some time to see if it's true. But if it's open 24 hrs. how do they clean up? They have to close the store sometime.
The good ole days of hanging out just talking about stuff.

I go to this new supermarket called Fairway, and even though its crowded as shit on the weekend, they make it a point to have every register open with a bagger, and if you have to wait for one person, its alot! Also, they have this computer thing when you walk in, where if you want to order anything from the deli, you type it in instead of waiting around like an ass at the deli counter (which IS always packed) and you can choose what you want it the desired weights and brands and stuff. It looked very simple, and then it spits out a tag that you hold onto and then you just shop for the rest of your shit and stop at this window near the deli and the guy takes your ticket and hands you your food. Done!
The six eyed psycho shelf stockers with the blue fingers that are in stores at 2am freak me out, so I dont go like that anymore, but I use to and they had like 2 registers open, if that, and Id still have to wait for some shit head that had to pay for his food with a check! Scumbags!!!

In college, I used to do my food shopping at 2am sunday night. It was nice and quiet, no one bothered us, and the regular checkers there knew us, so we always got good service.

I go to this new supermarket called Fairway,
Fairway is not new. It has been around in the city for at least 50 years. The uptown one has got to be at least 10 years old at this point, I don't remember when it opened but it is a block away from where I grew up and it opened while I was in high school. The one in Plainview opened like two years ago.
Their produce is pretty hit or miss.
It is a great place to go for good gourmet sorts of things though, assuming you know what you want because most of the tards they have working the cheese and meat counters have no clue what they're talking about. If you can make friends with the heads of the various depts who do all the buying though they'll totally hook you up.
Also, beer is really cheap there,
I wish they were open 24 hours.
