Late Night Talk Show Preference

Way back in the day I was a Leno fan. I thought he did a pretty good job of filling Johnny Carson's big shoes. But it wasn't long before his jokes got dry and his bits started to just plain suck. Letterman has always been Mr. Consistent, and I've enjoyed his comedy stylings for the most part... But when it comes down to it, my vote easily goes to the great King O'Brien. Conan = god. Best show in late night, period.

*And no, Carson Daly doesn't get a spot in my poll. He's a lifeless tool. Fuck him.

Conan is the best and kudos to Comedy Central for airing it at 7pm. I love the show but it's on too late.

Letterman is my go to guy at 11:30.

Leno is just awful.

I really love this show but unfortunately i can only watch it when im at my friends house. I like the offbeat guests he interviews, it's really funny. The one that really got me hooked was his online diary segment, all of his thoughts were completely unrelated then out of nowhere all you see and hear is "lol", "haha" and "rofl".

Good times.

There's one person I can't stand, and that's Letterman. NBC keeps me entertained all night, but unfortunatly, Mr DoucheBag Carson Daily somehow got a show. Who did he have to bang? Jimmy Kimmel is alright, and his guests are great, but his monolouges arent funny.

It's on at 11, it's funny, he interviews celebrities. You can't count the fake news stuff against him, because Kilborne still does it, too. Chris Rock's old show had fake news correspondents, and that was definitely a late night talk show. Stewart just has half an hour instead of a full 60 minutes.

Larry Sanders schools ALL their asses, and that was a fake show.

I used to be a huge Letterman fan. For at least a year (1995) I used to stop by the Ed Sullivan Theater after work and hang around to see the bits they taped outside. Some nights I would hang around waiting for the guests to leave between 6:30 and 7:00. I used to tape the show every night, and I even went to see the show live 3 times.

And then one day I realized that Letterman bores my ass, and that was it, I was done. All of those outdoor bits are scripted. One time they had Bill Cosby hail a cab and bring a taxi driver into the theater to talk with Dave. It was all staged...I saw them set the whole thing up. And from what I hear, the interviews are virtually scripted as well. It's all so phony, just like Dave.

The Daily Show should stay our because it's cable and a half hour. This looks like a network, hour long poll. And Colbert is better than Stewart.

Anyway, had to give it up for Conie.

I have ALWAYS loved Letterman, but he's just not as funny right now. Period.

I am not including the Daily Show because if I do, then I should also include every and all television shows that are on after 11 PM. Like Moe said, it's 30 minutes and it's on cable. I wanna stick to the traditional late night talk show format on this poll.

Yes he does.

I love Conan and voted for him. His show is funnier and 1000 times more original that the others on the list. Jon Stuart would get my vote but I agree the format is very different and since it's cable it isn't completely fair comparison. I did prefer Jon's synicated show to Conan's way back about 7-9 years ago. But Conan has gotten much better since then.
