or going out?

we're having some of my family over, uncle bill, dad and his ladyfriend phyllis, brother mike and 'maybe' his new girlfriend, and maybe grandad 'if he's up to it'...

gonna have turkey and ham with the usual fixin's,
no big whoop!

last year we went to a restaurant. i really have no preference, going out saves you a bunch of work but being home is always kind've special.

every Thanksgiving my family hosts the dinner, this year will be no different. Several sets of aunts & uncles along with numerous cousins. The best part though is after everyone leaves my boys come over, we puff and then heat up leftovers for a "second Thanksgiving".

Probably will be getting Chinese take-out that day. Either that, or nuking a frozen turkey dinner.

I live in a 2 family house with my grandparents. I will stay home with my parents and grandparents. My Aunt may also come over. I will make the Deviled Eggs, a salad and most likely a pie or two. My mother and grandmother will most likely handle the rest. Then I will sit around with a full belly and post about useless shit for hours............again.

I will make the Deviled Eggs,

this just made me hungry and reminded me i didn't have dinner yet...

my grandma used to make them and they were deelish... i think she mixed the yolk with mustard for the filling and then sprinkled paprika on them...

how do you make yours?

Well Funkman, I boil about 18 eggs, shell them and cut them in half.

Then I remove the yolks, and clean the whites for a nice, clean look.

OK, then I put the yolks in a bowl and use a fork to break them up into small chunks. Then I add some mayo and mustard. I don't have exact measurement because I taste the mix. Of course use only a little mustard at 1st, and maybe start with 3 heaping tablespoons of mayo. Mash and mix until smooth, then taste. If you want more kick, add more mustard. If it's too stiff, add more mayo.

Then scoop into the whites and top with fresh paprika. Remember, spices go bad after a few years. So if you only use that paprika at Christmas, and you've had the same tin of it for 5 years, it's probably lost most to all of it's flavor and kick. Go get some new.

thanks Moe...

i want to give it a try... what's the secret to boiling an egg where it is easy to remove the shell?

sometimes i can get it right and other times the shell just sticks like glue to the white and i wind up with a 'crater egg'

The secret to having an egg shell easily is to have eggs in the fridge for like a week or 2 before you hard boil them.

Too late now, but remember it for Christmas.

I'll be home, eating dinner around noon because my sister is working the morning and evening shift that Thursday and needs her sleep.

Then I'll head over here, Bodyslam U. (http://www.bodyslamu.com)

Going to my aunt's, as usual. I'd rather have it at my parent's home, so when I get bored, I can disappear to another part of the house for a while.

For the first time, I'm going out for Thanksgiving. i'm going to my Aunt's house. I'm not exactly fond of my cousins who are coming up from Maryland (Bethesda... woohoo!). It's going to be a fun day eating with 16 people in a three room house in Putnam County.

All I know is when I brought some boxes of food to the local food bank this morning they were quite busy.

I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. sigh.

Some friends and I put some boxes together last night. The woman at the emergency food pantry told us that a few years ago they helped out about 40 families a month and now it is up to 40 to 50 a week.

Times are tough - donate those canned foods.

sounds like somewhere Snoogs would live. he's always 'shamokin'... and Gvac.

guess you've got to throw all the board ladies in there too. not because they like cigarettes or reefer but because all of them are 'shamokin hot'...

'by the way' anybody having their turkey 'shamoked?'

:)
