LOS ANGELES - Kellie Waymire, whose frequent appearances on such shows as "Six Feet Under," "Friends" and "Ally McBeal (news - Y! TV)" made her a familiar face to television fans, has died at age 36, apparently of a previously undetected medical condition.

According to sources, she had immersed herself in preparing for the lead in the "Lupe Ayala Story," a movie in production about the plight of Mexican green onion pickers. She had spent the past month working in the fields picking green onions and eating salsa at various Chi Chi's restaurants.

It had been hoped that through this dramatic move, the plight of the scallion picker would have been brought to the public's attention. She had called for a boycott of all scallions, and began the first of many fasts in protest of the treatment of scallion farm workers. During her fast she received strong support from Booker T and the M.G.'s, who refused to play their signature song until the Federation of Green Onion and other Edible Bulbs of The Genus Allium Pickers received better wages and toilet paper.
