I just CAN'T like Jay Mohr.

I TRIED to like him. He was a friend of the O&A show. And he was sometimes funny on there.

But his stand up was usually kinda played. His stuff on SNL, except for the Walken shit is slightly boring. I could not watch Mohr Sports.

So now I see his new Comedy Central special is due up, and I just had to vent. I will miss it all 200 times it's on the 1st week they air it.

He's always been sub par in my opinion, and seems like a hanger on at times.

I always thought he was great on the radio, I loved him in Suicide Kings, and I've heard nothing but good stuff about his stand-up so I can't wait to see this show tonight. I just hope he does "The Pope Joke" that they used to talk about when he was in studio with O&A.

Jay Mohr rocks, you're insane on this one my friend. He was funny as hell on O&A and on R&F, his standup act is very funny. I'm gonna watch his show tonight on Comedy Central (http://comedycentral.com/standup/fridaynightstandup/).

My favorite movies with him are Picture Perfect, Jerry Macguire, Suicide Kings, and Go. I'll give him a pass for Pay It Forward because that whole movie stunk on ice.

Moe....I am going to be the politician here and say...i disagree but you are entitled to your opinion. I saw Jay in Vegas doing his standup. He KILLED. I was in tears i was laughing so hard.
I say honestly if you did try...just go see him live ONE time.
I can understand how you could get a bad impression.
Jay is a GREAT guy though....his family are a tight knit group.

Moe, I agree. His Walken makes him a one trick pony. He will die the most overrated comic of our generation. Is it me, or has he aged very poorly? His face is just disturbing.
Since he is a comic , it would have been smart of him to contribute something funny to last comic standing.

I started to listen to the "Opie and Anthony" show in the summer of 2001 and it seemed like he was either always calling in or there at the studio. I had no idea who he was but I thought he was one of the funniest people I had ever heard. All I knew was that he was in the movie "Go" and he was hilarious. I stopped listening for a while after that summer and every time I would hear him thereafter he was annoying and oddly not funny anymore. He only argued and feuded with Dice when it was Jay, Anthony and others as a team against him. Dice consistently "blazed" him and if not for Anthony constantly rescuing Mohr he would have come off so awful. The debacle with him calling the police on Dice was the act of a coward not to mention it goes against every comedian's code. He had some GREAT lines and moments on "O & A" that one summer but other than that he's nothing special in the world of comedy.

I am TRYING to watch Mohr's special right now with as open a mind as I can hae, and I am not really laughing. He just did like 15 minutes on masturbation and I couldn't find much to like about it. I will continue to watch the rest ONLY because nothing good has come on. But the SECOND I find a WWII special on History or a kewl Food Network show, Gay Mohr is back where he belongs: On a TV station no one is watching at the time he's on.

Mohr is great in the films I've seen him in (Go, Jerry Maquire, Suicide kings) He was funny on O&A but I found him a bit arrogant on the Stand up special last weekend on Comedy Central, but that's the only time I felt that. Well, I sat through most of it, and I have to say it was not as bad as I was expecting. I still don't like him, but his special was better than Brewer's shit special. I chucked a few times.

My biggest problems were these:

1. He is a HORRIBLE impressionist. I know he doesn't bill himself as one, but he did a few of them in his act and they were kinda bland.

2. He ended with some big serious thing about his friend. I forget the actor's name, but he recently died, and it seems Jay was his friend. So he delivered the end of this special as that person, and ended with some big line that was supposed to make us think I guess. Lame. Keep it funny Ass butt.
