I grew up in Manhattan but to me jersey was always a smelly eyesore. If you jersey people travel are you proud to say you live there? I bet you tell people you live in NY! :)

I have to disagree with that statement. I've been to Jersey quite a few times, and while there is much to the state that is beautiful and there's lots to do. I think that NY is much better. I've been all over New York from upstate, to NYC, Long Island, and all the 5 boroughs. NY is really like none other in terms of things to do and sights to see. Plus there's no people like the people of NY, they've demonstrated that time and time again. I'm not trying to get into a pissing match over who'se state is better, but I don't agree with the idea that New York can't hold a candle to NJ.

You can make a u turn in NY whenever you feel like it. The "smell" that guys talking about is when you going over Staten Island (part of New York!) when your going into Joisey. Its when you passing the Fresh Kills land fill and all the refineries before you get into the state that youll encounter that odor. Im not a fan of jug handles, high insurance costs, tolls and rediculous programs to make it hard to get your car inspected. If they can eliminate that, I think the state will shake that rep for being unfriendly to drivers.

I hate tolls every 2 miles and I cannot stand that I cannot make a left turn. 3 rights make a left.

Hell no!!!! Everyone rips on New Jersey--especially New Yorkers who shop it our malls because of lower sales taxes. Plus there was a huge car insurance scandal prompted by New Yorkers during the late 80s /early 90s. They would register their cars in NJ so they could get cheaper car insurance rates.
If NY is so great, do everyone a favor--STAY THERE. Did any NJ city ask the Federal Government to bail them out---HELL NO!!! But NYC did in the late 1970s.

I've lived in Jersey all my life, and feel no embarassment telling people that I live in NJ.
I'm working in NYC under contract and some people tell me I should move up here to make it more convenient (less commuting). Not a chance.

Oh GOD that was corny!

Ummm no....if NYC was such a PEARL of a city to be in why do MOST of the people who work in NYC escape to either Long Island...NJ or CT?
I love NYC very much and I believe it is the greatest city in the world to be in....HOWEVER NJ has MUCH better beaches...we have AC with some great Casinos, Giants stadium where we have kick ass concerts (More concert venues in Giants stadium then in Yankee Stadium or Shea every year)
Plus more elbow room...
And I should be ashamed of living here because.....?
