This is not a joke. A new product will be coming out soon to do this. I am sure the Cosmic Circus will be interested, as well as Mizzle the Tizzle and Too Cute from a technology standpoint.
Here is the link (http://www.tomshardware.com/business/20031119/index-02.html)
For those to lazy to read, It can broadcast on the air or over the net. It will schedule programming, announcements, news, network feeds and music to run unattended 24 hours a day. For music stations, selections can be shuffled according to frequency of play, tempo, genre, artist or other criteria.
Just my $.02

Could be, bro... 'Broadcast Engineers in a Box' sounds like our funerals. Guess we'll have to fall back on our other marketable skills - network administration, computer repair, telephone systems installation, integration, repair and management, automotive repair, plumbing, electrical work, metal fabrication, furniture moving, landscaping, painting, architecture, ergonomics and interior design, and public relations. Damn, how we gonna survive?
That said, this um, 'product' looks like a triumph of marketing innovation to me. Everything a radio station does, huh? Can it decide all on its own to play ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC FOR TWO FULL MONTHS? I think NOT.
Then again, it's Windows. ANYthing could happen.

Check Shoutcast (http://www.shoutcast.com) They have all the software you need to start your own internet radio station.
I started one a few days ago: LettucePrey Radio (http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=LettucePrey&numresult=25)
It was pretty easy to set up.
"Work is the curse of the drinking classes."
is it free?
and does that computer come with a free trial of America online?

Yes. Listeners need WinAmp, ITunes, or Real Player to listen to the stations.

You can't. Check worldvibrations.com: "It performs most of the functions of a radio station with the exception of transmitter, offering a fully automated "on-air" studio". Which isn't, um, on the air.
Further down their page: "Connect to a PA system, satellite uplink or, with a license, a transmitter".
See, there's the tricky thing. The ridiculous $2500 for this "radio station in a box" (that doesn't include "What you may also want:
~ Mixer board, if you want to do live interviews or music in the studio.
~ A telephone coupler for talk shows" - from worldvibrations.com) actually looks cheap compared to the cost of getting on the air. There's cheaper automation programs out there, at least one of which is free.

so it, um, does what? Fire your favorite radio show, and move your other favorite one out of town? Play Christmas music in October? Infomertials on weekends?
We must have this
