That was gonna be my response if the thread was a plea to sign the petition.

I did sign the "Put the Real Star Wars on DVD" petition right here. (http://www.originaltrilogy.com/)
45,885 signatures so far!
Because that was the film as it stood for 20 years and then Lucas decides to change crap around. He made a lot of money from fans like me with the real versions without the CGI crap so he should respect that by putting the real version out along with any special edition he wants.

Was TooCute the one who was getting the LOTR Tattoo (The Mines of Moria door I believe)? Did she ever post a picture of that?
I love LOTR but don't care if that scene makes it in the Theatrical version. Lots of crap from the Books isn't making it in either version of the films, just too much stuff.
Can't wait to pick up my 4 disc LOTR:TTT tomorrow.

I've seen dumber petitions.
But without a doubt, Lucas will ignore all Star Wars petitions. If you want the original trilogy, buy a bootleg.
And TooCute even had a pic of her tattoo in her sig for a while.

I didn't think these movies could get any nerdier.
I stand corrected.
Maybe it's nerdalicious? Nerdtastic?

I want Saruman to be put back into the ROTK but I'm not signing an online petition, thats just gay. I have no idea why they would cut his scenes though.

New Line is saying that the scenes may confuse movie goers cuz it kind of takes off from where The Two Towers ends... they assume that we assume Saruman is dead, but then there he would be. As far as they're concerned that part of hte saga is "over", so the new cut will have a fresh start instead of having any sort of "flashback" or "when we last left Saruman..." kinds of things. Peter Jackson plans on putting the scenes onto the Extended Edition DVD for ROTK, but that doesn't make Christopher Lee any happier about it... he's bycotting the premiere.

The thing is, and you can go on about "nerdtastic" and whatnot, but there was a real sense of friendship and ethic attached to these movies. these are real people. and to think that because New Line wanted to cut a paltry 7 mins, that Christopher Lee, who is an 82 year old Cinematic legend, and Brad Douriff, who is another class act, do not get to have thier performances on the big screen is really sad.
Christopher Lee is a very powerful person. New Line is so Oscar hungry, they may have forgotten this, and it may really hurt them when all is said and done. Lee played his part to the fullest, hell the man met JRR Tolkien, himself. It's a glaring and unfortunate black mark on a string of otherwise beautiful movies.
...That said, I wouldn't sign the petition because 1. It's pointless, and 2. as a fan of Lotr. I'm grateful that New Line gave PJ and company the opportunity and budget to make 3 fairly source-faithful movies out of Tolkien's masterpiece, and I realize that I should be happy that any ommited footage would be realeased on DVD a year from now. It gives me something to look forward to :)

I honestly can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic, but I'll take it as serious and put on my "nerdtastic" hat (A dwarven helmet, if you must know)...
Because the movies will end short of where the books do (vague enough for you?) they'll probably use a flashback kind of device, where they explain that Saurman was defeated, and Pippin got a hold of the seeing stone. This is really all they need to set up the major events of RotK.
There was a lot of important stuff they missed in the first two movies too, and they ended up on the Extended DVD. The DVD versions are the "real" movies, from an artistic standpoint, and the theatrical releases are for the studio to make the mega-bux.

Personally, im not gonna sign it, but he really needs to be in the movies, i dont care how fucking nerdtastic it is, i want the staff breaking and I WANT IT NOW, i mean, considering they like to fuck with the chronal aspects to begin with this scene should be in this movie, and they fact that it wont be is very upsetting.
I will not go quietly into the nite...

I guess I need to watch the end of the movie again. I don't remember something that implies he dies. Was it the attacking trees? Can someone refresh my memory about what happens at the end? I just remember Gandolf showing up at Helm's Deep with the Riders of Rohan and after the battle Gandolf says the battles over but the war has just begun, and Gollum/Smegal talking about killing the hobbits to get the ring back.
I'm getting the 4 disc set today, so I guess I'll see it again.
I'm sure there's another 7 minutes they could cut.

Who exactly would want to sit through an eight hour movie? I love the LOTR books but I am not about to sit through anything that long.
I guess I need to watch the end of the movie again. I don't remember something that implies he dies.

I just like saying this because it sounds like "lotta erotic", which is the closest this film and its fans will get to the good fucking they so desperately need.
