Yea I know this is not a huge revelation. But when you are frustrated sometimes you vent.
Coughing like a fiend and chest is killing me...and I still have to go into work.
p.s. low grade fever also.
No I did not have my flu shot..every time I have one I get the flu anyway, so whats the point?
Any reccomendations for keeping it surpressed?
Why over the counter works best for you...I have several in my closet, do not want to take the wrong one and fall asleep at work.

supressing it and overdoing will just make it last longer. stick it out as long as you can, then leave a little early, eat dinner, and get to bed early. That's the only cure

i just got over that cold. i had the worst cough ever. lasted for like 2 weeks. it got to the point where i was coughing and throwing up. people at work were giving me looks as if why was i here, but, god forbid i take a day off from work....i've gotta keep the junk mail going.

Lots of water, lots of rest, and Alka Seltzer Cold & Cough before you go to bed. That stuff always clears me up and I'm able to sleep the night through without coughing.

They inject you with the flu so your body develops an immunity to it. That is why you get the flu when you get the shot...

um, no - they inject you with a dead version of the virus, so you can get the immunity w/o getting sick - I think the issue is there are so main strains out there, how can they guess which one will be this year's version?

FLUIDS, my friend, lots of fluids. And the Carter-Wallace/MedPointe line of cough-cold remedies doesn't hurt either: Tussi-12X, Ryna-12X, Sina-12X...depending on symptoms. ;)

how can they guess which one will be this year's version?

I've heard that they wait and see which flu is going around China and use the shot for that flu type. So it is possible to have gotten a flu shot and to get the flu. Basically, you are playing the odds.

for the last month i've had mono-like symptoms. I've taken a blood test and i don't have mono and i'm not anemic so now i have to take another blood test. the bad thing is i'm fucking up my grades and i need to maintain a 3.3 GPA in order to keep my scholarship. That sucks big time.

I've had this illness for 2 weeks now. Its been hellish. I didn't sleep and eat for 4 days.Its finally going away after a visit to the doctor,some meds,and an inhaler. Like other people said,lots of fluids and rest. My doctor also said to take regular Robitussin and Robitussin DM at night.

Thanks everyone...I am going to head home and eat as much soup as I can ingest with juice.
If today was any indication for things to come I will be home posting tommorow....my chest feels like an Alien is trying to pop out of it every time I cough!

Wait until you're awake at 4AM coughing. I had 12 hours of sleep last week and didn;t eat for 4 days because of this bullshit illness.

Go to the doctor's as soon as you can to get some stuff for it quickly. I had Zithromax and that shit worked nicely. The first couple of days will still suck but after that,it knocks it right out.

i let my wisdom teeth go for too long and got to the point where they needed to be removed. i was sick for over a month and got through it with codeine and red wine. the combination made me rest enough and still be productive. worked for me.
