we had a family up the block(next door to my best friend) that were known as the 'dirty dozen' their were approx 10 girls and one boy, the boy happened to be the oldest and was a teacher and didn't live home anymore..

but there were many times where several of the girls had crewcuts. they ranged in age from 8 to 14.
it was supposedly due to headlice.

yes, and they were white. looking back it is really a sad situation, especially for young girls. then one year they found the Mom dead floating in the Hudson River. I never knew what exaclty happened. There was another night(New Years Eve) when she was out on the corner across the street and she was waving a butcher knife screaming and had blood all over her.
