Oh, WOW.
Damn right this is important.
Why hasn't administration been pointing to this with flares and bells and whistles all along?

You're right, this is huge. But I'm leery, because of this:

I'll believe it when reputable media outlets report on it, not the people who bring us the NY Post.

Considering the source of the memo and the fact that Carl Levin, among others on the Senate Intelligence Committee, have seen this evidence and have had access to it for years, as well as the fact that, as Mojo said, the adminstration hasn't been screaming out loud about this stuff, I am beginning to have some doubts. But, at the VERY least, this puts rest the idea that Al Qaeda and Iraq would never work together.

Even Fox News hasn't touched this yet, so let's be patient here.

Well, I was pretty stunned by this until I read THIS part...
The day after this speech, according to documents unearthed in April 2003 in the Iraqi Intelligence headquarters by journalists Mitch Potter and Inigo Gilmore, Hussein's intelligence service wrote a memo detailing coming meetings with a bin Laden representative traveling to Baghdad. Each reference to bin Laden had been covered by liquid paper that, when revealed, exposed a plan to increase cooperation between Iraq and al Qaeda.
...I remember this "finding", and that it was heavily discredited.
Which is not to say that much of the information in this article isn't true, but it does throw a lot of it into doubt. And as HBox said, why has this been so quiet? Most of these revelations would not be high-risk security or intelligence losses. A definitve link between Al Queda and Iraq over 9/11 or the current reasoning behind the invasion of Iraq would have easily gotten Bush the support he desperately needs here and even abroad. Get it out there if it exists like this article says! Get people on our side!
I'm very curious to see where this story will lead.

The Weekly Standard is just the conservative version of The Nation. If they're really breaking the story then I'll read it when it gets to a legitimate publication with real fact-checkers. But that really is a shitty publication. They used to carry Anne Coulter, for christ's sake.

And here's an article basically arguing the opposite of the memo. (http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2003/0311.ackerman.html)
So who the fuck knows? I'm more confused now than I've ever been.

Here's that damn left-wing media giving W the benefit of the doubt again
Case Open? (http://slate.msn.com/id/2091381/)
My $0.02: I think the case stated by the Feith memo is weak, primarily because it is probably based on the same "intelligence" sources (i.e. the Chalabi posse) that said Sadaam was 6 months away from a nuke and had crop-dusters loaded and ready to spritz us with smallpox. But as the article above indicates, there is still a lot we don't know. My partisian worry is that if my fellow anti-Bushites go too far in making the arguement that there's NOOOO WAYYYY that there could have been a connection between Sadaam & Osama then any link that turns up, regardless of how tangential or ultimately inconsequential, makes it look like our Neo-Con gang are the Masters of the Universe that they are in their own minds.
And we can't have that.

I thought this was America's new Pepperidge Farms
I wouldn't worry about the source. I worry what our government does about it,and the billions and the loss of lives over it.
Fuck, can someone explain to the retard that I am how to post pics. Thanks. I suck.

We're talking about a memo, and not a report.
Thanks HBOX, you're on top of things as usual.
As for Saddam, terrorists, WMD, etc., remember that a month or so before this "memo", the administration was given the report that said that Saddam would not give WMDs to terrorists unless he was backed into a corner and about to go down.
Still unanswered is why Bush & Co., insisted before the war that the intelligence was unequivocal in pointing out the threat that Saddam and his WMDs posed.
If we waited till the fall to go in, somehow that would be too late.
And where's that "reconstituted" nuke program?
And how about all those assurances last February that they had planned for all the post invasion shit that has them so befuddled now?
I sure wish one of those press whores would ask Bush if he regretted his "bring-em on" statement.
" and they ask me why I drink"
