THE NEW 102.7 BLINK IS NEW YORK'S FIRST HOME

FOR NON-STOP HOLIDAY MUSIC


Station to Broadcast Holiday Favorites Through

Christmas Day


The new 102.7 Blink (WNEW-FM) kicked-off the holiday season with non-stop
holiday music beginning today and continuing through midnight on Christmas
Day, Thursday, December 25. 102.7 is New York's first station this season
to present continuous holiday favorites.


"We could all use a little Christmas, and it can't get here soon enough,"
said Smokey Rivers, Program Director for the station. "The decorations are
up, the temperature is down, and holiday music is available right now on
102.7."


The holiday song list is comprised of such favorites as "The Christmas Song"
by Nat 'King' Cole, "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano and "Santa Claus Is
Coming To Town" by Bruce Springsteen.


The station's official launch today included 102 Santa's embarking on the
metropolitan area, including along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Reading about the story, seems Ferrall's been acting indecently, leading to a complaint from Jack Thompson ( best known for getting 2 Live Crew arrested/banned/etc) to make a formal complaint to the FCC. Also the station said Ferrall signed a letter saying he'd clean up his act, which they say he violated numerous times.

Blink is ran like a bad Internet station. I think someone was going thru the web and saw some REAl Jukebox audio guide and thought to themself, "A CHristmas station, wow, we'll get our ratings back by playing the Waitresses over and over and over." What a hideous bunch!

Poor Ferrall. He just can't control himself.

I don't want to sound like a wild-eyed conspiracy nut, but it seems pretty clear there are only two possible explanations for the way NEW has been run this past year or so.

1) "The Producers" scenario: NEW management collected money from naive investors to "turn the station around." They pocket the money, then drive the station into the ground so the investors don't expect any return on their investment.

2) The Al Qaeda scenario: NEW is being run by Islamic militants. They're trying to run the worst radio station possible and alienate literally every single listener. Then they'll be able to send non-coded messages to Al Qaeda operatives in the New York area.

It just isn't possible that anyone could be trying to run a functioning radio station and come up with this mess.
