Looks like the Former Fabulous Freebird is having a bad month in the WWE.
First - his stupid drunken singing debacle at his bosses' daughter's wedding...
Now this as reported on rajahwwf.com -
A controversial storm erupted in the SmackDown lockerroom last night at the tapings in New Jersey. According to several different SmackDown workers the whole thing stemmed from Michael Hayes wanting to have a certain angle pushed. This rubbed a bunch people the wrong way and left many irritated all day.
Hayes wanted to have John Cena to hit Chris Benoit with the FU at the end of their Tag Team match at last night's taping. Hayes was apparently lobbying all day trying to get he angle over. He was the only one who wanted to do this, but everyone else felt that Cena needs to get over as a babyface right now since the fans are really into him. Hayes' plan was to have Cena attack Benoit and have him get over in "Stone Cold Steve Austin" fashion, if you will. Everyone else pretty much thought that the characteristics didn't match up and that this would only confuse fans.
The talent involved also thought the idea was bad, also feeling that it would confuse fans and would kill Benoit's credibility as a major competitor. The argument was thought of as being done and over with until Hayes spoke with Vince McMahon about it as the show was about to finish and got the spot pushed through. He did this by some how lying or making up false information about how others felt about the angle. Hayes said that the idea was Vince's, but no one believed him after what went down earlier that day.
It came off extremely suspicious to everyone that Hayes, who mainly writes for RAW, is pushing for a major finish for a SmackDown brand show, which could be vital to a major SmackDown character.
At the end of the show, after the spot was done, the crowd was completely shocked and most just stood in silence. That was not good at all. The feeling was that the crowd did not understand why Cena would attack his partner for no reason and coming off as a heel.
This is the second time Hayes has been in hot water since last month at Triple H and Stephanie wedding when after getting drunk, he got on stage at the reception and started singing "Jainhouse Rock" and then got back on again, yelling obscenities and had to be carried off by his wife.
