View Full Version : Bomb scare in my neighborhood

Tuesday morning I saw two fire trucks outside of my building, right on the corner of the park. No biggie. Someone's ADT is always going off and it's usually a false alarm. So I leave for work and when I get outside, my street is closed off and I see a bunch of cop cars and a bomb squad unit at the entrance of the park. I come to find out somebody drove a car with a bomb into the park and called in the threat. According to my neighbor, the bomb was real and it had to be disarmed.

Thing is, I can't find anything about this on-line. You'd think, considering the times and I live so close to the Holland Tunnel, there'd be some sort of news about it.

Anyone interested in a one-bedroom condo? Hardwood floors, fireplace, dishwasher, approx. 675 sq ft. Downtown Jersey City. :)

isnt it great that you walk outa your building and the whole place is surrounded, and you're right in front of the car?

Ironically, there was a water main break yesterday. I still have no idea whether or not I can drink my water without boiling it.

I bought a gallon just to be on the safe side.

I took it as a rumor.

What I saw, happened. I know full well it could be false.

maybe there was no bomb but that doesn't mean they shouldn't 'bang' the shit out of the a-hole who pulls that kind of stuff...

nah, that's mean...

that little park just happens to still be my favorite, spent half my childhood there... hopefully they fixed and painted the bandstand. not sure if they could ever keep a working bathroom down below though without some kids breaking it up.

How's Walter?

I live in Hoboken Alice, and I wasn't sure either. I found out a warning was issued for Jersey City on the water company's website, Unitedwater.com. My girlfriend called and they said Hoboken residents should boil their water.

But no public warning was issued.

If you go on the website today, http://www.unitedwater.com/uwjc/pr110502.htm ...it talks about a water advisory that was lifted LAST week, on November 5th. Didn't know about that one either.

Thanks!

Me neither! Ugh! That's it, I'm using bottled water from now on!

And, Funkman, Walter is good. The bandstand has been all fixed up. It's a really nice park except for the fact everyone uses it as a giant dog run.

UPDATE (not that anyone cares other than me and maybe Funkman)!

I checked with a very reliable source (Walter, store owner, landlord, and an 8th Street institution. Funkman can vouch for him!!!) that there really was a bomb. Walter witnessed the detonation of said bomb. "Fire in the hole!"

Johnee, heads need to be rolled!

And I'm boiling water as I type.

Whoa, I care Fuzzy! So there really was a bomb in Jersey City, and I have heard NOTHING about it in the news. Of course I may have missed it, but I would think that a bomb in a public park would cause a big stir. I was out last night with people from Jersey City and no one mentioned it.
