Seriously.

Some greats:

How can you mend a broken heart, (How can a loser ever wiiiin)

Don't want to live inside myself (I'm much better off alohoone)

My World (Is our world, and this world is your world)

Let there be Love (So I can be loved by you)

Saved by the Bell (on your own carousel)

Lonely days (Lonely nights, would I be without my woman?)

Holiday (

I've Gotta get a message to You (hold on, hold on.
One more hour and my life will be through, hold on, hold on.)

New York Mining Desaster 1941

In the event of something happening to me,
there is something I would like you all to see.
It's just a photograph of someone that I knew.

Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
Don't go talking too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones.

Massachusetts

Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts,
Something's telling me I must go home.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own

I Started a Joke

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying,
but I didn't see that the joke was on me, oh no.

I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing,
oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me

--------------------------------------------------------------
Run to Me

If ever you got rain in your heart,
someone has hurt you, and torn you apart,
am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me?

And let it be like they said it would be -
me loving you girl, and you loving me.
Am I unwise to open up your eyes to love me?

----------------______________________________

JIVE TALKIN'

It's just your jive talkin'
you're telling me lies, yeah
Jive talkin'
you wear a disguise

Nights On Broadway

Blaming it all on the nights on Broadway
Singin' them love songs,
Singin' them straight to the heart songs.
Blamin' it all on the nights on Broadway
Singin' them sweet sounds
To that crazy, crazy town

Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)

First I rise, then I fall
Seems like you don't want the love
Of this man at all
And it's sure been a lonely time
Right up to the time I met you
So if you take a love like mine

Be tender with my love;
You know how easy it is to hurt me
Fanny, be tender with my love,
'Cause it's all that I've got
And my love won't desert me
(Sniff, so sensitive)

Love So Right

She came on like the night and she held on tight
And the world was right when she made love to me
We were free
She moved in like a friend , started loving me
And I thought I'd found my heaven in her arms
But the morning when I woke up
I was here and she was gone
Now I'm hanging on
Maybe you can tell me how a love so right can turn out to be so wrong

_____________________________________

If I Can't Have You

Don't know why I'm surviving ev'ry lonely day,
when there's got to be no chance for me.
My life would end.
And it doesn't matter how I cry,
my tears of love a waste of time.
If I turn away...
_______________________________________

Stayin' Alive

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around
since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK.
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand
the New York Times' effect on man.

When the feeling's gone and you can't go on
It's tragedy
When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With no-one to love you you're
goin' nowhere

When you lose control and you got no soul
It's tragedy
When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With no-one beside you you're

I agree with Johnee, the body of their work is incredible. It would be a tremendous disservice to categorize them by just their Saturday Night Fever period.

Nights On Broadway, Jive Talking stand out but their catalog contains many gems.

Yeah, I know, I had the "When the Lights Went Out In Massachussetts" 45.

Then I got taste.

I'll give y'all this much-- some of them songs are well crafted pop ditties, but the cultural impact of disco cannot be overstated for it's wretchedness, and that's what I was describing, the overall impact of it all.
If you were like me and fought the polyester fashions, the medallions, the platform shoes, the dance lessons, being sensative, being robbed of any real masculinity, it was tough to score with the chicks, as most of them were into it big time.
Time after time I was told at parties "Haven't you heard, rock and roll is dead".
No one wanted to hear it.
Them was dark days and the Bee Gees were a major factor in the evil that beset our fair land.

Fine. You're both gay. Happy? Why can't you two just see past your differences and get to banging?

as much as i would love to attack the gay-ness factor of this thread, i have to respect johnee for a thread where he just posted misfits lyrics and no one got it.

so i must conclude, my friend, that you are an enigma wrapped in a wierd cd collect.
