is there a difference between a triple threat and three way dance?

Not trivia, just curious.

I may be getting this wrong, but a triple threat match usually ends with the first pinfall/submission/whatever. In a three way dance, if a guy is pinned, he must leave the match, but the other two wrestlers continue until another pinfall/submission/whatever occurs.

Also, three way dances were most commonly used in ECW, while WWe seems to prefer triple threats.

yeah as far as I know a three way dance is usually like a triangle match, which ends after 2 falls. The reason WWE doesn't do them: they're more entertaining.

maybe because these are usually on ppv and don't have time to do them with their roster size or because stephanie and vince need screen time.
