Well after the Godfather and Indiana Jones, the last long awaited trilogy is out for release next year.

thedigitalbits.com also reports:

Well, we've finally heard from our sources on that meeting that Lucasfilm held yesterday at the Presidio with their retail partners... Star Wars: Episodes IV, V & VI are coming to DVD in September of 2004. The animated series of Clone Wars shorts appearing soon on the Cartoon Network will also be released on DVD, possibly before the end of this year. The teaser campaign for Episode III will begin in January of 2005, leading up to the May theatrical release. Finally... Episode III will hit DVD in November of 2005. ...Keep in mind that none of this is official until Lucasfilm publicaly announces it... but this is certainly, at long last, the real deal.

Also listed here. Watch out for Episode III spoilers for those of you who don't want to know yet.

Next September? I can hand ya one tomorrow. You take the Dolby Digital VHS Versions, or the Laserdiscs; use a Macrovision Stripper; and burn to a Panasonic DMR-E80H.

It's fully legal to make a copy of a purchase for personal use. So, while it's really just a dub of the Dolby VHS/Laserdisc; you will be able to use the awesome slow motion capablilities to check out cool scenes, and the DMR can actually synthesize a 5.1 image, if not a true 5.1 surround sound.

It kicks azzzzzzzzzzz.

But they didn't say which version of the SW Trilogy. Most likely it's the Special Editions. Give me the classic, originals!

Quick poll:

Would you buy the DVD if it's release as a 6 disc(or more) set with the Original and Special Edition versions, but you can't stand the SE and can't buy the Original version seperately?
