Make sure not to look directly at it.
What you do is get a cardboard box and punch a little hole in one side....
" and they ask me why I drink"

So that way, you can't see shit looking up or down.

The weather says clear for saturday and sunday, so this should be cool. I'll be on the roof of my precinct from 8-9 in a lawnchair, being served iced tea by some random female cop. (It's good to be the boss). Thanks for the info Bill.

NOTE TO SELF: Commit wanton acts of criminality from 8-9. Laugh and touch myself from 9-10.

No prob Chris. Though not as spectacular as a solar eclipse, lunar ones can be pretty cool - I've seen a blood red moon one year that was soooooo creepy it was great.
btw I've only seen 1 solar one, and it was a partial. The thing I learned that day is that any source of pinpoints create an image - the overlapping leaves on the trees left little crescent images on the ground - too cool.
I hope my kid enjoys it tonight - he's only 2 1/2 but knows "moona" and says hi and goodnight to her - but for some reason only when she's full or near full.
Go figure.

Yep, a nice partial, and I cant Find the damn pictures I took of it. They cam out pretty good, and between the 902833928 other photos, i'll find it.
Cant remember when but it had to be between 93-95... May? June?? Because it's when I was teaching in central NJ; and me being the astronomy nerd I was, I buy, out of pocket; 50 pairs of eclipse glasses. Only a buck a piece, but they were the real deal; excellent but cheap filters.
Anyway, I'm SO psyched that morning, because the weather is Great; and I get to school; got the telescope in the Trunk; fuck, how about an actual, real science event?
And I get in and I get the news: No. Nobody at all is even being allowed out then because they are afraid kids will stare at the sun and get hurt. I begin to explain that I do this [fuck, I had just designed the Astronomy Curriculum for the school] and know this, and I can see in 2 seconds there's no way this non-tenured teacher is going outside.
I was fucking LIVID.
Imagine: You're teaching a high school science class, and outside, a Wonderful Rare thing is happening. And I can't take my kids out to see it. At one point I'm like fuck it, I'll take the Hit, so I grab an optical flat mirror, go outside, and try to project the sun into the class.
Of course it works; they can see on the wall the sun with a big bite out of it; and I can't friggin let them outside to see it.
Is the frustration coming through?
Prolly cuz also my good eyepiece is missing so the pictures I hoped to take and post here may not happen.
It's true!! These things make people NUTS!!!!!
PS: I left the school the next year. Right after I got tenured. Seeya! Ha!
