TNA's version of WWE's Montreal Incident?
TNA has really been pushing this infamous Jarrett laying down for Hogan at WCW's BATB to the limit and now I am thinking they are trying to make this out like the Bret screwjob thanks to Vince in the WWE.
Does anyone sense this? Jarrett won't talk about this situation everytime asked while "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, Scott Hudson and even "The Professor" Mike Tenay have been pushing for a real answer.
DISCUSS.

I remember thinking "WTF - is this a shoot?" Joey...were the seeds of TNA planted on that day?
And should I get these TNA PPVs? I am thinking about getting the one with Luger for sheer morbid curiousity.

I'd like to ask what the screw job in Montreal actually was. You are referring to the one regarding HBK and Bret Hart at Wrestlemania right? Because if you are I'd like for you, or anyone else to explain how Bret got screwed. Didn't Sean just put Bret in the sharpshooter, then Bret grabbed, the ropes but they awarded the belt to Sean out of the blue? According to the dumb clip I watched, thats what happened. So how did Bret get screwed?

Aggrivating the Mod's, one post at a tim
It was at Survivor Series. Bret refused to lose and promised to relinquish the title the next night on Raw. After the Medussa incedent, Vince didn't want to risk his Champion appearing on WCW and throwing the title in the trash again. Vince felt backed into a corner and thought that going about it the way he did was justified. (Note:Bret wasn't under contract anymore so he wasn't guaranteed to be there Monday night)
It was the best thing to happen to the WWF because that is what gave Vince the image he needed to fuel the Stone Cold feud which turned the company around.

I'm sorry. That's completley rediculous...
This is the reason I don't bother with TNA, because Jerry Jarrett owns it and his boy is the main focus of the damn fed. I didn't consider Jarrett a world champion in his WCW stint, and I just don't consider him now. comparing Jarrett-Hogan to Micheals-Hart is borderline sacrelige, and just plain insulting, and really nothing more than Vince Russo sucking his own dick in public over his "wonderful" storylines...

Allegedly, Hulk Hogan was going to exercise a clause in his contract that allowed him to win the Championship anytime he wanted. Russo came out with Jarrett and had him just lie down so Hogan could pin him. Hogan and Jarrett both looked pissed and embarrassed.
Later on in the night, Russo came out with a dented world title and cut a profanity laced promo on Hogan and how his kind are ruining the buisness. Then he had Jarrett and Booker T wrestle for the title and I believe that was Booker's First title victory.

That's pretty much an accurate account, although Russo's promo is an amusing thing to behold. Russo had the right idea - push the young talent - but unfortunately he came at least two years too late to do anything about the problem.
Way I always understood it, though, is that the heat was always between Russo & Hogan, not Hogan & Jarrett, which is why Hogan is willing to work with Jarrett in while Russo is placed in something akin to exile.

In Montreal, Canada on November 9, 1997...Vince promised Bret he wouldn't have to lose the title in his home country and look bad for WCW...The "promise" was that after Bret escaped the sharpshooter HBK placed on him, there would be an interference by various others causing a no contest finish...Bret would then forfeit the title on Raw and officially say goodbye.
What transpired was Vince appearing at ringside and shouting to referee Earl Hebner who knew of the change in plans...Hebner signalled the bell to be rung before "escaping" the ring to an awaiting car...HBK then took his cue from Mcmahon and grabbed the championship belt from the announcer's area. Minutes later in the locker room Michaels would lied to Hart about having prior knowledge of the doublecross.
This incident was later explained in great detail in the documentary about Bret Hart called "Wrestling With Shadows."

My favorite moment remains Julie Hart tearing Hunter a new a-hole.
"You guys had a meeting this afternoon, and decided the whole thing! Don't give me that shit, because you guys knew it! Swear to God all you want, but someday God is going to strike you down. I'm upset. You had just as much to do with this as the rest of them. It really sucks! You'll all go back to the hotel and laugh and have a few beers. Remember someday Hunter, what goes around comes around."
Unfortunately, God's proven over and over again to be a Trips fan.

Wrestling With Shadows is an excellent documentary, with or without the screw job. It gave great insight into what happens backstage, preparing for matches and tv.

Nothing new here, only Jimmy Hart wearing a black shirt under his sports coat that were in yellow letters, "WHY" and when Mike Tenay tried to mention this incident again during an in-ring interview with Jarrett, he again banished Tenay from His ring.
Hmmm... Jarrett really doesn't like the Bash at the Beach incident I gather. ;)
