Duggan, Rick Stiener, Sting, Hogan, and now "The Total Murderer" Lex Luger. It's very refreshing to see that WCW Thunder is back on the air. For only 10 bucks a week no less.

Actually, if I'm reading the results correctly, he's going to be Jarrett's partner, while Sting teams with A.J.

You know, I was really wanting to watch a TNA PPV, but I gotta ask: with all the fresh young talent in the indies just dying to be booked in a national fed, why hasTNA insisted on going after the friggin' has-beens, never-weres, and out-and-out novelty acts lately?

This is huge news. Another has been in TNA. This is why TNA will ALWAYS be second class to WWE and probably never get a tv deal. Also with Jeff jarrett being the unstoppable world champ is another reason why most people don't care about them.

When are they going to bring in:
Jake Roberts
akeem the african dream
earthquake
tugboat
randy savage
warrior
mark madden
stevie ray
scott norton

You need to have some huge recognizable names in order for people to order. Luger IS a name like HOGAN and STING are.

They do have alot of great young TNA wrestlers like the majority of the X-Division, Abyss and CM Punk. You need a balance of talent (also remember these "has-beens" are not on every week besides maybe Piper who is coming back) like the WWE attempts.

...

I heard rumors from my sources about him returning and I tried to change their minds but alas he is in TNA for I believe a one night only deal. Luger should be in jail right now and is a murderer, I will not deny that. I don't want him in TNA. But think about this logically people, Luger was like Sting, he is NWA. He did represent NWA back in the day.

But it does look like a great matchup Sting/AJ vs. Jarrett/Luger on paper. I'll enjoy it like I always do on TNA PPV.

My question exactly.

Don't defend them, Mark.

They do have a lot of good, young talent, but they're not being booked properly......seems to be a recurring theme in pro wrestling.

I don't see a problem really in brining back guys like Hogan or Sting, because they DO have name value and have drawn in the past. The company shouldn't really be focused upon them, but they have their worth.

Guys like Ric Steiner don't. His worth ended a long time ago. Luger? NEVER a legitimate draw. And to bring him back now, at the all-time low of his career (and personal life), even for a one-night shot, it just stupid. You don't need name recognition THAT bad.

Just build who you have. They've done it nicely with Styles. Choose someone else - like Punk. I don't care if he's small, anyone who's seen his work in ROH knows that if given the mike and a halfway decent program the guy would become HUGELY over.

From nwatna.com:

11.07.03 | A Message From TNA President Dixie Carter Regarding Lex Luger

It is rare that TNA ever responds to media, no matter how off it may be from fact. But we strongly believe it is appropriate at this time to address what is being said about Lex Luger appearing on our November 12th pay-per-view telecast.

TNA is about opportunity -- for wrestlers new and established. For the fans, TNA provides a weekly program that showcases today's hottest talent, introduces the stars of tomorrow, and provides the opportunity to re-experience wrestling icons. Since its inception, TNA has paid homage to NWA legends who have laid the foundation for our company.

As far as TNA talent is considered, we could not be more proud of our entire roster who give their heart and soul week after week to build this special group. We believe in being compassionate and giving guys a chance. From new, incredibly talented young men to veterans who may need lifting up when trying to change their lives. Surrounding a man with the kind of environment we enjoy backstage at TNA can only be considered a very good thing. We are about accentuating the positive, not the negative.

When our talent approaches management and recommends giving someone an opportunity, we listen, and that is the case with Lex Luger, as well as others. The success of bringing Lex to TNA won't be measured with pay-per-view buys. It will be measured by what a man does with an opportunity given.

As a company, if any talent becomes a negative force in the locker room, then they are no longer welcome to be part of our team, and that has been proven on occasion and will continue to be our manner of operation.

The Ultimate X Match, Raven's Clockwork Orange House of Fun and the current X Triple Chance Tournament are the kinds of things created to generate buzz and increase buys for TNA -- because it's outstanding wrestling in a unique format. But to take advantage of a difficult point in someone's life is not the practice of our company. Our philosophy may be uncommon in the wrestling business, but our goal is to be a different kind of company, inside the ring and out.

From Borash' Column:

The Lex Luger announcement certainly seemed to catch quite a few people off guard. Anyone who suggests that we are bringing him in for any other reason than to compete in this tag team match is simply incorrect. His name had been kicked around long before the unfortunate events of this year had taken place. The deal was done just minutes before going live on Wednesday night. People obviously want to see him, as our advance ticket sales have dramatically increased going into this event.

This is interesting.

In a guest editorial for the Torch, Peter Zed calls for a boycott of NWA for hiring Luger. (http://www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/article_5986.shtml)

As much as I love NWA......I think he may have a point.

Some people say that living with Luger, and being beaten by him (he was arrested for battery shortly before the suicide), drove Liz to OD.

The autopsy report (which can be found on thesmokinggun.com) indicates an accidental lethal mixing of booze and pills, and that's the scenario I'll stick with.

However, I thought the WWe Confidential managed to successfully convince everyone that WCW is to blame for Elizabeth's death... dammit, we really DO need an eyeroll icon.

My informants told me that some anti-LEX signs were removed before the show. Ugh, what happened to freedom of speech? Bastards.

Before the match Jarrett and Luger both said that AJ is not in their league. This match actually was better than I expected. AJ was dynamite just like Sting as the crowd always pop for these two babyfaces! Luger is still ripped as hell and surprised no chants of "KILLER" when he got tagged in. He did his flexing, gorilla press, bear hug effectively and seemed like his former WCW self. Sting tried to get in the ring a few times but of course the ref is blind. Sting used a baseball bat on Luger who put the Torture Rack on AJ while the ref's attention was diverted and AJ did a rollup pin and got the surprise victory. AJ has beaten Luger?

So does this mean Jarrett vs. AJ next week for the title or will this saga continue? Who knows really?

doesn't that make styles look weak the way he beat Luger. From what iread it was only because Sting hit Luger with the bat that gave Styles the pin.

Dude, I saw the show last night and you are giving Luger way too much credit. His face looks like it was deflated and hisreceding hairline and short hair made him look like a mongoloid. Plus his abs were still impressive, but his arms were no where near what they were in his prime.

He barely moved 4 feet when he was in the ring, he lost his breath after every move and took a lot of rest time also (And I'm not exagerating here, me and my friends started timing him because it got so obvious). And all of his "power moves" he did on AJ because he was lighter then Sting by 100 pounds.

If it weren't for Low Ki and Daniels that would have been a total waste of 2 hours.

Edit: And yes, Sting hit Luger in the ribs about 4 times before the roll up pin.

ugh i didnt actually get it last night cause, personally, i dont give a shit about luger, but the way the match is being discribed im glad i didnt, there is no reason that AJ should need luger to get hit in the ribs four times...hes one night only...Styles shouldve gone over clean.
