View Full Version : THE INFINATRIX
The Chairman

OK - so I managed to figure out:
1) why the 942V/72P and counting "DIDYAKNOWTHAT?!" thread is in the Ron&Fez Show Feedback Forum.
Then I started wondering how:
2) "The Matrix - Not Star Wars" was posted there, as opposed to let's say...hmmmmm. Entertainment?
Rather than make an attempt (probably Sisyphean at best) to:
a) justify the 942V/72P of 1. and;
b) answer 2. while also initiating my own Thread that would allow me to serve as thought inculcator about the phenomenon that is The Matrix, which would prove the Oracle wrong and suggest how utterly absurd it is that The Matrix Reloaded was the highest grossing movie of 2003..
I'll just bum rush this Forum and post here. This post will get far fewer views and replies. But it is not a redundant. This is about math AND bad movies and stuff.
Oh and hidden in it is my Grand Unified Theory of The Board.
So..starting with some pressing of the icon in the middle that shows what looks like a piece of paper with writing on it with a red arrow moving due east (assuming the top of my screen is north:)
Take this Bartlett.
I was going to say the same, but Tall_James said it better and quicker.
I aspire to enter The Matrix of pithiness but it apparently isn't going to happen any time soon.
Am I the only person who doesnt like the Matrix movies?
There are at least two of us. And we share similar tastes in music. Two. 2.
We form a set. More on that in a second..
Matrix < Original Star Wars Trilogy
BUT
Prequel Trilogy < Matrix
And yes, believe it or not, Matrix trilogy = LESS pretentious than Prequel Trilogy.
Of course, ALL of them < Lord of the Rings. I know TooCute will back me up on that.
So will I, cool.. math/logic/symbols enters The Matrix. Now I can justify my use of it (by my just posting something like):
The Matrix < The Adventures of Pluto Nash < just about all other movies except Battlefield Earth.
But I'll go on and start my thesis on 2(b) while adding something that might be worthy of a post in the Thread referenced in 1.
But first some more quotes:
Everything that has a beginning has an end."
Uttered by the Oracle in response to the question from Neo: "Where is this going?" and later:
"Where will it end?"
OK so I saw the movies. Neo may be the One, but I will offer proof that The One can't be The One that can pose such questions, because they talk of endings.
The battle for Zion. Or is it The Battle for Zion?
Metaphysics.
portentousness and obfuscation (lower case - someone else said that and used forms of those words in reply to one of my recent posts..I'm not going to retort with pedantic pedagogue, even though it is clearly less trite AND uses alliteration.)
Have you lost me yet? Kind of like how I was lost in the first two movies until I figured this whole thing out? How's it feel?
Is it safe?
Is it safe?
OK, so The Matrix Trilogy? I certainly hope so. That is finite. Three is a magical number, a mystical number, a religious number. In the Italian card game Briscola the three is worth ten points, lower only in value to the Ace (eleven points.).The next highest card is the King (four).
I still like 2.
Cuz I'm cool like that.
Help us all if there are more Matrices..
Now Ya Know That.?!
I'm starting to lose my mind

Neo wants to know where it's going. The Oracle talks about a beginning and an end. An Alpha and an Omega?
nope.
Infinity.
Repeat after me:
There are always more sets of things than things.
(that would be my one line opening for the DIDYAKNOWTHAT?! thread. But I don't do one-liners.
Cuz I'm chill like that.
Back to Infinity (I choose to capitalize it here and wish I could figure out the lazy eight symbol, but I'm more neophyte than Neo with computers.)
Mathematical Infinity.

US box office totals as of 10/26/03:
Matrix Reloaded - $281, 492, 479
Finding Nemo - $338, 746, 985
This changes everything, doesn't it?

Plain and simple...
What the fuck are you talking about?!
OK - I'll keep this real simple:
To answer some people's question on what the fuck my post meant:
I used Cantor's Theorem to demonstrate how Ron and Fez and their fans were larger than Infinity Broadcasting.
Since the Matrix came out that day, I had it on my mind. I didn't like the movie and folded that into my post.
Since I was writing about the concept of limits (or, conversely, the infinite), I was reminded of jazz, music's most purely improvisational genre. Since even improvisational jazz requires a framework (time), the framework I chose for my post was The Matrix. That explains the jazz references in the post.
Now: some of you (Mojo, no surprise) got the whole Infinity Broadcasting < Ron and Fez thing right away. Many of you IM'ed or PM'ed me separately to indicate same.
Some of you also got several of the references. I will post an annotated version, but I said I was going to keep this post simple, so that will come later.
The whole thing took about 10 minutes to write. What took a while was writing it and then seeing if the number of words in the post represented an M.P. number.
It was also a little tricky for the post to follow a character setting (if transcribed to musical notes/measure/scales within a free rhythmic style) that covered a 10-measure circular (which would allow augmentation and diminution of time values for individual readers..while also throwing in a few modal changes)=the jazz part.
I promised I wasn't going to make this complicated so let's just say the post: applied a mathematical theorem to say "we're bigger than Infinity Broadcasting" and "the Matrix sucked" while also serving as an homage to improvisational jazz.
I assassin down the avenue.
