Just saw a private screening. Wasn't overly impressed. Answers some questions but leaves others out there. Are there supposed to be anymore episodes they can make like the Star Wars movies?

They have said again and again, that it will be only 3 movies, But there are comics already comic out, a multiplayer online game coming next year and who knows what else.

Still more questons unanswered, How about this one:

Is Smith is a program, why does his avatar have a receeding hairline?

As much as everyone seems to have hated the second one, at least it didn't end with the first and third's apparent "if you shoot/hit the big, complicated, all-encompassing computer-world-thingie, you will win" nonsense.

Everyone DOES realize that's the essential message of these films beneath their supposedly complex and "deep" mumbo-jumbo, right? Get a bunch of guns, kick and punch something really hard, and that's it. Laaaaaaame.

In the first Movie, Neo "won" by dying, being reborn and flying into Smith and blowing him up.

The Second Movie didn't end: "To be Concluded"

The Third Movie Neo saved Zion by letting Smith copy himself onto Neo. Now I'm not 100% sure but Either the Machines then unplugged Neo (which as we see in the first movie, kills that person if they don't properly exit the matrix) or the fact that Neo is Smith Negative created some sort of Matter/Anti Matter problem and he was blowed up.

I don't know. But they didn't win by Blowing or punching anything, in fact Zion would have been destroyed if Neo didn't fight smith, or if Neo continued to just fly around and fight with smith, Neo won after the oracle said (through the Smith he was fighting) "Everything that has a beginning must end" or some crap like that.

I left the movie with a bunch of questions

Were they in the matrix at the end? I mean the programs: Sati (the little girl), The Oracle, The Architect and Seraph. It wasn't the same green as the matrix has been. Was it rewritten?

What was the Architect doing there anyway? I though he wasn't actually in the matrix, but in the source (He said to Neo one of the doors leads back to the Matrix)

What was the point of the upside-down fighting? Why were the Merovingian's men on the ceiling? And does that really help them? I would think it make them easier to tell apart from your friends on the ground.

The Architect said the others would be freed. So what are they going to do for power? And how pissed off are those other people going to be? Morpheus said in the first film that once people get past a certain age it's dangerous to free then, that he had to free Neo despite that.

Overall I don't think the movie was as bad as people are saying. But they did seem to forget the basic themes and plot of the first film; they did get away from some of the characters traits (like Morpheus being yelled at, WTF! is that was Will Smith puts up with?) and the ending was cheesy. and no Rage against the Machine song! WTF!

Revolutions was a triumphant failure. I found it to be an extremely well done action flick technically. The overall quality of the acting left much to be desired as did the overall plot.

Here are my contentions

1) Everyone points out the Bane/Neo fight where Neo couldn't figure out who he was. Huh? Mr. Anderson...who else calls him Mr. Anderson?

2) I agree the upside down fighting was pointless and repetitious.

3) The Mervingian scene was as pointless as it was short. Why the hell was Persephone still there after she fucked him over? I don't care how good the coos is...if the bitch fucked you over, kick her ass out.

4) The Train Man character. Who is he? I want background on this character.

5) Why didn't they just nuke Zion?

6) People were laughing when Trinity died. Laughing. That says a lot about your main characters when one dies and everyone laughs. I remember crying when Han Solo was taken away in cryptonite. I actually cared. Says a lot about a director, doesn't it?

7) New Oracle sucks. What, they couldn't get any of the ladies from 227? Who the hell is this Aunt Jemima no talent hack? SHE SUCKED. Gloria Foster had FUN with the part. That's what made her character so interesting. I hated this new Oracle.

8) Seraph blows. Nice glasses, chump.

9) That little indian kid should be strung up by the British and tortured until all her pseudo-cuteness is drained and all that is left is a profane, evil antichrist dothead. Fuck her and fuck her dad and his bullshit mumbo jumbo. Mecka lecka hi mecka hiney ho you douche. This is an action movie. If I wanted to hear a deep intellectual conversation about love I'd have seen Scrary Movie 3.

10) Fuck Keanu Reeves for being the worst actor ever.

11) Fuck Morpheus for being a pussy in this one. He looks like he's going to cry in every scene. Maybe its just me, but the people of Zion are the most delusional people I've ever seen. Here you have Neo doing shit nobody has ever done before on his way to the heavily guarded (that's an understatement) Robot City by himself with no ammunition and they STILL don't believe? Wake up dipshits. He's the messiah.

12) What happened to all the philosophy presented in Reloaded?

13) Ending sucked. I would've brought the two original robot ambassadors with the apple (from the animatrix) to zion and had a truce. The little indian brat making the rainbow can feel free to eat my ass. Fuck that ending.

Movie sucked. Zion battle rocked. That's it.

I thought the one jerkoff captain was a horrible actor. He had NO faith in Neo and he let a crewmember get killed."I knew it"I knew he blew it up" Well if you knew it why did you leave him alone with the doctor babe so he could kill her. What the fuck kind of security was that? Buuuut it was better than sitting home cleaning my pee-hole & tweezing ass hair.

1) Everyone points out the Bane/Neo fight where Neo couldn't figure out who he was. Huh? Mr. Anderson...who else calls him Mr. Anderson?

2) I agree the upside down fighting was pointless and repetitious.

I agree with both. With all the martial arts training the characters are supposed to have, all Trinity can really do are the China O'Brian(Cynthia Rothrock) arch kicks and the hanging crane crap. S oI can see how that would be repitious.
3) The Mervingian scene was as pointless as it was short. Why the hell was Persephone still there after she fucked him over? I don't care how good the coos is...if the bitch fucked you over, kick her ass out.
Persephone is too important to lose over a fit of peak. I think she was supposed to be some type of empath that he needs or some such nonsense.

4) The Train Man character. Who is he? I want background on this character.
I agree

5) Why didn't they just nuke Zion?Evidently machines are honorable

6) People were laughing when Trinity died. Laughing. That says a lot about your main characters when one dies and everyone laughs. I remember crying when Han Solo was taken away in cryptonite. I actually cared. Says a lot about a director, doesn't it?
That bitch took entirely too long to die. I nodded out when she started her little death monologue and when I woke up she was still going. I didn't cry when Han was frozen in carbonite but it was a better scene.

7) New Oracle sucks. What, they couldn't get any of the ladies from 227? Who the hell is this Aunt Jemima no talent hack? SHE SUCKED. Gloria Foster had FUN with the part. That's what made her character so interesting. I hated this new Oracle.
I th ink she may have done a season on 227.

8) Seraph blows. Nice glasses, chump.

Stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel

10) Fuck Keanu Reeves for being the worst actor ever.
When exactly did you make this startling revelation?

11) Fuck Morpheus for being a pussy in this one. He looks like he's going to cry in every scene.
Cut him some slack he just found out his whole reason for being and his whole belief system were lies.
No one other than the people that were in the Matrix itself saw it. Some believed and some didn't.

12) What happened to all the philosophy presented in Reloaded?
Who knows?

13) Ending sucked. I would've brought the two original robot ambassadors with the apple (from the animatrix) to zion and had a truce.Weren't they destroyed in the Animatrix?

Why the hell was Persephone still there after she fucked him over?

two reasons:
http://members.cox.net/nicksporsche/hotty.jpg

I remember crying when Han Solo was taken away in cryptonite

Carbonite. Kyptonite is bits of Superman's planet that make him weak.

I would've brought the two original robot ambassadors with the apple (from the animatrix) to zion and had a truce. I do think they were destroyed, but it would have been cool to have the machines send two ambassadors in human-like form as a nice recall to the Animatrix, these other products are supposed to tie in (the game, the animatrix, comics etc) so it would be nice if there was some crossover

I th ink {The New Oracle} may have done a season on 227.

Actually she was in "A Different World" and "Malcolm X" and also on "A Different World" "Touched by an Angel" "Cosby" "L.A. Law" "Good Times" "Sanford and Son" and "Police Woman"

They should have had the oracle take a much different form, not what they thought would be similar to Gloria Foster who died after Reloaded. Gloria Foster was on "Law & Order" "The Cosby Show" "Mod Squad" and "I Spy" and that awful Cosby movie "Leonard Part 6"

I loved it, probably because I paid mtinee price for it.

I won't try to convert anybody to make them believe it's good. All of the things hinted in the first movie were shown in the the two sequels and I think that everyone who watched the original matrix had their own vision of how the series would go on.

The warchowskis got WAY too ambitious and they lost fans in the process.

Again, I'll say that I really liked it. Much better than the second, but it will never equal the first.

Was it all one big game between the oracle and the architect?

I walked out of the movie hating it but now that I look back on it I can pick out parts that I liked. It wasn't the worst thing ever but I think they could have done a lot more with it. I'm dissappointed that they didn't end it another way. I guessed that ending b4 I ever saw the second movie. It was too obvious.

I agree with you Jeff. I said the perfect person to fill in for Gloria Foster would have of been Darlene Love of Lethal Weapon fame. She at least looked somewhat similar to Gloria Foster...

I had to laugh when she(the Oracle) said to Neo "It is complicated to explain why I look different..." I totally MYST-ied the scene by replying "No it isnt, the original lady fucking died...move on!!"

I think he's mocking, and rightly so, the horribly forced, unbelievable and awkward nature of their "love." That litte "twist" was easily THE biggest flaw of the first film, and it served only to drag down the rest of the series as that their relationship seemingly only existed so they could look worried about each other when they were doing their kung fu.

I wished they didn't have to go with that whole "the oracle has a different shell now" They should have just played like Gloria Foster was still alive. That really complicated the story further.

Would people have liked it more if they stayed away from the human elements and just did some more matrix stuff? It would have been good if we got to see a few more matrix tricks, but I felt since part I that this zion war had to be seen.

I mean, Tank was basically having an orgasam when he was telling Neo how great Zion was.

The Zion battle didn't seem long to me, but i will agree that watching computer graphics fight other computer graphics, you aren't that interested.

They should have had Neo and Smith fight some more and cut down the Zion scenes.

And OK, I will agree that the mushy love stuff is unnecessary. I cringed when the whole death speech was going on. Douce chills all the way.

Yes I know I would have. The movie is called the Matrix. It's not called The Zion. The battle in Zion felt like filler material until they could lead up to that dialogue with a dying trinity and Neo. The battle was felled with alot of cliche battle scenes dialogue.

Yeah, I have to agree that when ever there was a mtrix scene, i was much more interested. I could have watched Seraph kicking heads for a much longer screen time than they gave him.

I do think that the warchowskis owe us something more. Even though I liked it, I felt like there's some story that's missing.

I enjoyed Matrix3 for what it was. I liked how everything was cyclic, but the only way to notice is having seen all 3 movies, the anime, played the video game, eaten the breakfast cereal, fucked with the condom, etc.

I think what would have made for a tighter sequel(s) is just do one sequel instead of a trilogy. It was obvious that the first movie was planned as a stand alone and they decided on a trilogy when it got the box office.

They didn't need to beat the viewers over the head with eastern philosophy. From the unbalanced equations to the Oracle's yin yang earrings, they put it everywhere.

But unlike Jeff, I liked Seraph. He was like the yakuza guy in the white suit in that Simpsons episode. He kinda stood there, but you know he'd do something cool eventually. Besides, he earned his stripes in the tea house scene in Reloaded.

After watching the second one a few times, I thought I understood it and was waiting to seeing something that I didn't with the third. It was a cool movie to watch, but to tie it in with the 2nd, I think I may have to watch it again. I'm all for thinking movies, but my hair was in a tussle from the overall meaning flying over my head.

I'm sure some written explaination will be published at one time or another, so I'll wait. In the meantime, my biggest question was how old is the matrix? The eluded to it being "older than you think" in the second. How long has it been going on?

Neo was the the first "One." I think she meant a spiritual rebirth as in another "One" would come along.

And the Archetect and the Oracle were Smith's parents. It's alluded that they had a child together in the second one. The Oracle used Smith to fuck up the Matrix, and ultimately recreate it.
The Archetect was there to have words with the Oracle, like telling her she won and he would take care of certain things, like releasing those who wished to be released from the Matrix.

ok...the movie was mixed....looking back i think reloaded was a better movie than revolutions..and if you asked me before revolutions came out I would've said the last one...anyway..

everything on the two movies focuses on "purpose" and that "everything that has a beginning has an end:" .but it's not bullshit. Agent Smith tells neo it is "inevitable" (him winning) and he's right...Smith gains power as Neo gains power...the oracle says it is the architect balancing an equation...and her job is to unbalance it...that's important.

therefore...Neo and Smith will continue growing until they become all powerful..but neither will lose any strength. The oracle has unbalanced the equation numerous times and everyone is aware of her/him/whatever. Neo was the oracle's way of unbalancing the equation and lead to peace between man and machines. ..and Smith was the Archtects way of balancing that to combat Neo's threat of control.

Neo understands this..however, the archtect makes Smith too powerful...because Neo is so powerful as well. Smith takes over the Matrix entirely...copying himself and controling it entirely.

Neo says "i need time"...he realizes that Smith is growing in power to combat him...as he grows in power. He offers the machine a way to beat Smith and that's how Zion will be saved...and he sacrifices himself...after he realizes

So IF THERE IS NO NEO OR "THE ONE", there is no need for Agent Smith. Neo is destroyed by Smith...and the artectiect balances the equation in the matrix...by elminating Smith...and all his copies..

by the way...usually the matrix as we know it is in a green tint...and the "Real world" is in a blue tint...

UPDATE DOWN - serves as a reminder that the normal rules as we know it do not apply

RETURN OF THE JEDI - anyone think this reminds them of that? the whole battle for zion / death star? the whole thing depending on the battle between skywalker / neo and vadar / smith?

They should make a fourth one called The Matrix: Translated. it can just be a guy at a desk explaining the whole thing.

All i got from this movie was that the purpose of life is to end, which im glad i saw this movie because i would never have known that had i not seen it, and that they didnt really get anything accomplished:

at the beginning of the first one, the jist was basically that people are kept in a program (the matrix) designed to keep them in line while they can be used as batteries or something by the machines that have taken over the planet, and then there are the people who arent in the matrix that live in zion and are just trying to stay alive from the machines.

by the end of the third one, people are still kept in a program designed to keep them in line (the matrix) but it got rewritten or something, and the world is still taken over by machines, and there is still a bunch of people who arent in the matrix who live in zion, except now they dont have to worry about machines killing them. they are basically back where they started. the matrix still exists, and the world is still taken over by machines, except now the machines just arent trying to kill them.

these last two movies were completely redundant and they should have just left it at the first one where we could all ponder the theory that we were living in a computer generated dreamworld.

and what was with that whole thing between the colonel sanders guy and the oracle at the end. i stopped trying to understand at that point.

and im sure there are things i missed or didnt understand or misinterpreted that led me to these conclusions so someone please explain them if i did.

and it was funny when trinity died. it was way too long, and at one point i thought she was going to break into song the way she was talking, then i couldnt stop thinking about how funny it would be if all of a sudden her and neo just jumped up into a snazzy song and dance number and i had to walk out of the theatre for a second. she still wasnt dead when i came back in.

The First Matrix was a completely different movie, it was darker, easier to understand, and grittier, hence everybody falling in love with it.

Now this thrid one, everyone thinks it sucks, but in reality it rules, the first one was so good that compared to this one, yes this one would fail in comparison but its still better than 3/4 of the shit movies made out there. People stop need to looking entirely at the storyline, just watch the action, the action KICKED ASS. I tried to understand the plot, it was hard, im gonna have to watch it a couple more times, but i didn't let it ruin it for me. If you think that this thrid one really "sucked" then go and watch "Eight Crazy Nights" then watch this again, and you will not be able to tell me it sucked, I've seen sucky movies (see Battlefield Earth) and this is FARRRR from it. The action and special effects were incredible, thats what i base my Action movie experiences on, the story is just a side dish.

i read Furtherman's spoiler link b/c i don't really plan to see the movie. they can't translate this idea convincingly into a movie w/o 1 of the characters explaining it to you. just like the last one- the architect explains the movie to you in the last 5 minutes, so you have to see it again to understand it. fuck you the matrix and ever like movie. so fuck you-

lotr- nice 3 hr tailer dicks. made me not want to see the 2nd and definitely not the 3rd
star wars- 5 minutes of yoda kicking ass doesn't make up for the rest of the dung heap you call a movie
harry potter- unless you're taking your kids, you are fucking gay

the matrix started with a great idea- based on a book by jean baudrillard, and had some cutting edge special effects. oh well...

You mean like a 10-15 minute exposition scene of Morpheus in a white room explaining everything to Neo? "You are a battery"

I'm glad I didn't invest anything intellectually into this movie franchise and therefore have no bad feelings about it sucking. I'm only going to see the third one because i'm going with friends who do give a crap and I will laugh right in their faces when they realize that they've lost in trying to like these movies. In that respect I'm glad it sucked.

I thought the movie was good...they left you with some unanswered questions at the end though

So IF THERE IS NO NEO OR "THE ONE", there is no need for Agent Smith. Neo is destroyed by Smith...and the artectiect balances the equation in the matrix...by elminating Smith...and all his copies..

If the Architect can eliminate Smith, why does the machine "god" make the deal with Neo? He doesn't like Neo (because he's human) but makes the deal because it's the only way to defeat smith? If the Architect has the power to eliminate Smith they don't need Neo. They could kill Neo in the real world and Kill Smith in the Matrix.

And why would all of those mini robots have to form a face for neo to talk to? That just seemed very Wizard of Oz to me.

They used lots of cliches in this third one (Like the kid who wasn't fit to being in the millitary being the only one who can get the job done) and stole from others (The Squid attack and the Logos all had Star Wars written all over it, and the Smith/Neo fight just seemed like something from Superman 4.)

And by someone saying that the ones that followed the first didn't nearly live up to the first but they are still good, that's just because the Warchowski's proabably had a shit deal on the first film and wanted to make money some how (ie: Matrix:Reviseted).

*** For action, ** for story, overall ** 1/2

All i know that i lost 10 bucks and 2 hours of my life. How unbearable was the trinitiy dying scene? "Oh Neo, I fucked up and now i got 3 poles in me" (probabaly not the first time, know what ims saying?) Horrible movie and im kind of glad its over. I'll just keep thinking in my mind that there was only one matrix movie.

As opposed to all the things they "borrowed" in the first and second movies?

I know that Jon, but the first one had a lot of it's own going on. The second had less and the third had almost nothing.

The Train Man character. Who is he? I want background on this character.

I believe that he was similar to Charon of Greek Mythology. Charon is the guy who brings the dead to the underworld...and the connection to Merovingian is his wife Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone agreed to live with Hades half the year and that is the reason there are seasons (most particularly winter/summer) according to this story.

This site has a lot of good points. The movie could have been so much better if they just answered some of the questions they created. This site just says ANY answer would have been fine, even the lame Matrix in a Matrix theries. But all we got was:

Neo: "Tell me how I stopped 4 sentinels by thinking it..."
Oracle: "The power of the One extends beyond this world. It reaches from here all the way back to where it came from: The Source."

I would have like to see at least a few agents, even if just to be taken over by Smith.
