She'd need to learn to surf again because of balance issues and all that.

I heard about this on the radio this morning. They were saying this girl was about to turn pro till this happened. That's really gotta suck.

have their been shark attacks before....yes
have they always occured in water.....yes
are they usually surfers or snorklers or some such....yes
its the risk of partaking in an ocean event, it happens, just like you run the risk of gettin malled by a lion in a safari. we still choose to go places that sharks rule, and then have the audacity (sp) to say we need to get rid of them cause we were to dumb to stay away

i don't believe she would be able to surf at a competetive level again. you have to question how the heck she could even think about entering the water again.

she can surf, not competitive, cause you cant paddle that fast with 1 arm. and the other part, you bet your ass she'll be back in the water. if you go today and ask her, she will tell you she isnt mad at the shark, she knew the risks of surfing. you dont see people quit doin bike stunts cause they fucked up the landing and broke their arm. they let it heal, and get their ass right back on that damn bike

she prob wont be scared. look at the odds, how miniscule they are that it happens once, nevermind twice. its a weird thing and hard to explain. i used to do rollerblade stunts. one time, attempting to do a 900 off the roof of my garage, i broke my fibula, snapped in 2 when i landed. the only thing i could think about for those 3 months was the day i could put those skates back on a try it again. i did try again, and i fell again and broke my wrist. 2 weeks later i tried it again and i landed it perfectly....with the cast on my wrist.
