It's weird but certain times of the year I get cravings for foods only really during that time of year. For instance, the other day I saw a friend of mine at work chowing down on a plate of turkey and gravy with stuffing that he had ordered from some deli. It looked damn good, ever since then I was craving it until today when I got me a plate of turkey with gravy. Two months ago I wouldn't have been in the mood for turkey. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with turkey, it's just that I don't eat it all that often, but I do notice that around this time of year I major cravings for it.

Then there's pumpkin. Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme have their pumpkin donuts and muffins, IHOP has pumpkin pancakes. I'm having some pumpkin bread right now that my sister made. It's only at this time of year that pumpkin really comes into popularity. You never really see pumpkin anything at any other time of year.

Apple Cider Donuts at Dunkin' Donuts are currently on my daily must-have list for fall.

Whenever the weather turns cold, I miss my mother's kasha varnishkes and stuffed cabbage. My dad used to get the BEST fresh (not smoked) kielbasa and pierogies. AND the HOTTEST horseradish.

I miss that A WHOLE LOT.

I like whiskey around Christmas time...
Beer is good in the spring, ice cold for some reason.
Tequila is excellent in Summer, as is a stiff Gin and Tonic.
Brandy and red wine are all smashing in the Fall...

A guy walks into a bar. I forgot the punchline, but your mother's a whore...

the weather's getting cold (you couldn't tell from this weekend) and comfort food is back in season. can't wait for some nice sheppard's pie.

(johnny mcgorey's in massapequa park has the best i've ever had. nothing like half price guinness, sheppard's pie, and sunday football)

At this time of year I tend to crave Osaka Wild Beaver with extra napolm to balance out the gamey taste.

That would be for the same reason that you see rhubarb in the spring, zucchini in the early summer, tomatoes mid summer, sweet corn in the late summer and apples in the fall.
