View Full Version : How do i remove gasoline from clothes?

OK, I'm going to work yesterday, and i stopped at a gas station to fill up. I noticed that the meters were going really really slow, and soon my feet were all wet. I look down and there's a hole in the hose with gas spilling out. I told the guy behind the counter and he had someone put a bag over the nozzle.

So now my shoes stink and so do my pants and my socks.

My question to all you:

How do i get the smell of gasoline out of my clothing--especially my sneakers?

burn them? honestly I doubt anything will work, but you can try one of those high powered degreasers like the orange products, but your better bet is to bitch at the gas station for a new pair...

Did you try washing them all before you asked?

If that didn't work, maybe febreeze. But definitely wash everything.

The shoes are done.
For the pants, I'd soak them in strong detergent for an hour or so, wash and repeat several times.
It ain't worth the bother with the socks.

Trying the orange citrus cleaning products is a good idea, too.

wrap the pant leg around your face until you are high as bejesus. it wont do anything for the smell of the cloths, but you wont care anymore either

I'd say the shoes are definitely done. For the clothes try some Shout or Tide.

First, you take off its socks, then it's little gasoline sockies. I'd go with the pants, pausing sexily when you undo the zipper, and then the shirt. Surprisingly, gasoline goes commando.

siphon it... at first you have to suck really hard, then it flows smoothly after that...

It's amazing how many people have posted variations on "light them on fire." Do you people not even read each others' responses?

And since they're sneakers, you can try tossing them into the washing machine and see if that helps.

Well, that's because those of us who are down were waiting to bust out Norman Morrison...

And while you're looking for pictures to post, grab some screen shots of Spike Jonzes' video for Wax's "California"
