I heard a lot of good things about ROH, but never seen it. Anyone familiar with the promotion want to recommend any vhs/dvd from ROH to start out with?

All of them.
Or, at least the first anniversary show, Death Before Dishonor, and the first Round Robin Challenge.

I'm always torn about buying ROH videos.
On the one hand, I want to support them, so I feel bad if I buy a tape of theirs from a secondhand dealer.
On the other hand, Feinstein's a fucking bastard and I hate putting money in his pocket.

I have friends there, so I don't feel that bad.

Why such harsh words for Rob? What did he ever do to you? As far as RoH, it is one of the best indy promotions you can ever watch. I'm going to my second RoH show on Saturday night 11/1/03 at RexPlex in Elizabeth New Jersey.
The only way to watch RoH is start from the beginning. Each show gets better and better. Not only the actual wrestling but the production quality is getting amazing. Not only are they available on VHS but they are getting into the DVD market as well.
Also just announced on http://www.rohwrestling.com
