So our bassist Jenn was walking around her neighborhood and found this POOR little black and white cat. It was skinny as hell and missing hair in a spot on it's head. She and our guitarist Bob kept if for the night in a shed outside their house, fed it and gave it a place to sleep.
So after practice today, we were able to find a Humane Society in the area that was open. We put the little skinny bastard in Moe-bile and shuttled it over there. She left her number so we can find out what happens to him.
Just to pet this cat broke your heart. It's spine and ribs were easly felt as you pet him. The poor thing was so fucked up and in need of help that it just came up to whoever was around and wanted attention. It's fear of unknown people was gone.
So the society said they would treat him and get him adopted. They only put pets to sleep that are too sick to nurse back to health.
WHO ABANDONS PETS?!?!?!?! I wish it had a collar on so I could fuck up the asshole who left this poor cat to die. I mean really. Who is cowardly enough to take things out on defenseless pets? Or to just drop one off somewhere and wash your hands of the poor thing? Fucking fuckers.
If the thing lives and doesn't get adopted right away, I think my friends were thinking about bringing it home with them.

Wow DMM...never knew you had such a soft spot in your heart for pussy!
But in all seriousness....it has been proven that people who receive enjoyment from torturing animals and also family pets have usually moved on to humans. (If not stopped in time) So finding someone who has seriously abused an animal and making sure he never does it again might be saving someones life someday.
There was a story years ago...I think it was 10+ about a dog that was left to a family in PA.
The dog was a Dalmation named Buddy. He previous owners were moving (due to the fathers job) into an apartment complex that did not allow pets. The 'family' that adopted Buddy had several other dogs, which as it turned out, were mostly Pit Bulls that were being used for fighting. The family tied Buddy to a tree and taped his mouth shut allowing the other dogs to attack and 'train' how to kill on Buddy. And when Buddy was almost dead and they could not do anything else to him...they killed him by crushing his head with a cynderblock.
This is an absolutely true story.
Best part is they were reported to the authorities, they Pit Bulls were caught and put to sleep and the family members involved got prison sentences.
I will never forget that story as long as I live. Hopefully they are getting ass raped every day with a man whose dick is as big as my forearm. Then receive some horrible STD from him. (or her...one of the prisoners was a woman)

Moe, that is an amazingly touching story and a really cool thing to do. More often that not, I have mor eof a soft spot for animals than the other scum that are considered "human". People toss away responsibility sometimes for pets and just let the shit happen.
It bugs me when people have cats for pets and they keep them outside. Most people I know keep them inside and there are only a handful of those who don't but still...
There is one around my neighbourhopod that comes around and wants food and is so damn cute and I feed it but I just wonder where it's home is. To some people animals are their only source of companionship cause they really have nothing else. Some don't even realise the importance of having a pet and how it is so great to have something saying hi and giving you love when you come home. Then you read a story like this and it just pissed you off that an animal could be treated like this.
Hopefully you will keep us posted and Death Metal Kitty will reign supreme!

Moe,
You, Jenn, and Bob rock!
It baffles my mind and breaks my heart that someone would just "abandon" a pet. Or, worse yet, intentionally inflict harm.
BTW, the ASPCA (http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer) and the National Humane Society (http://www.hsus.org/ace/352) are both not-for-profit organizations that accept and need donations.
Boomerang (the little lion cub that got abandoned at Noah's Lost Ark) is doing well. They've collected over $30, 000 for him and Ming. (http://www2.nynewsday.com/news/local/manhattan/nyc-tige1011,0,2353639.story?coll=nyc-manheadlines-manhattan)
Thanks to everyone who donated.

Yea everybody, how fucked up is that? This poor cat is just dropped off in the middle of nowhere to die. I really hope the little bastard makes it. It's got an uphill battle I'll tell you that.
I remember as a kid that my aunt and uncle had like 20 cats outside their house. They lived in a state owned house on the park that my uncle worked for, and it seems that people just dropped cats off there a lot. So they would get big bags of Pathmark budget food for them. There would be kittens every now and then to play with, and it was actually a lot of fun as a kid. I know they should have fixed the cats, but they didn't have the money. So each kid got it's own cat to bring in the house and the rest were just local cats that got some food there.
HOW can you be so cruel and hartless to pets? I don't get it.
And Justice4all is right on. People who torture animals are more likely to move on to humans. Dahmer used to play with dead dogs and shit like that as a kid.

A black and white cat followed me home on October 9. I was going up to Strawberry Fields after work because it was John Lennon's birthday, but I decided to come home to NJ early that night so I wouldn't miss too much of the Yankee game.
So the black and white cat followed me home, walked right in the door with me, and now he's well taken care of. His hobbies include eating, sleeping, and killing assorted wildlife.
He still needs a name. I generally call him Bugsy & Skunkmonkey.

And thanks everybody, but my bandmates Bob and Jenn deserve most of the credit for taking the poor think home, feeding it and finding the shelter. I just agreed and drove them there.

About a year ago, one of my co-workers told me that someone left a cat in a box on the subway platform. So he brought it in the booth to protect it from the subway and the tracks (in case some asshole tossed the box on the tracks). After he brought it in, we opened the box to see if it was OK. It wasn't a cat. It was 2 cats. 2 full grown cats stuffed inside a cardboard box with a chewed up frankfurter. We tried to call the ASPCA, but they would not pick them up because it was Saturday and they didn't do pick ups on weekends. So we called my supervisors office and all that they told me was that a cleaner would have to take the box and leave it on the street or just let them loose. I told them to forget it. I eventually tracked down a fellow worker who I knew took in strays off the street and saw to it that they were brought to a shelter. It just really bugs me that people treat animals this way.

The only thing, and I mean the ONLY thing worse than someone that tortures animals is someone that touches kids. Honestly I think they should do the whole Megan's Law thing with animal cruelty people. Put their face up all over the neighbourhood and let the neighbours know that this scumbag is a convicted animal molester! Glue their cocks to their stomachs! That's not punishment enough.
Always brush after meals.

All my cats are strays.
A co-worker found Otis on the service road of the New England Thruway. She took him in, took him to a vet, and asked around the office if someone wanted a cat. Best cat ever!
I got Alice at the Jersey City SPCA. She was a little too young to be adopted (she was barely a month old and weighed about 8 oz), but the SPCA was kind of a shithole back then and the "staff" looked like they were there to fulfill their parole agreements. After a few visits to the vet and a lot of kitten formula, Alice grew up to be fat and sassy.
Lloyd was a stray kitten I found on my street. He was very healthy and in good shape for being on the street.
