Congrats.
Mike, if you can arrange a wake up call from Paul Westerberg for me (or as a close second David Foster Wallace), I'll arrange for you to personally meet my former professor, David Cochrane, to discuss histamine and mast cells over lunch (my treat)....

In about 10 minutes a poster will come and say he doesn't know who the hell Jason Mewes is. DON'T BELIEVE HIM.
Back to the time machine.
Also Jason Mewes is the governor of New Jersey in my time. You must stop him now.

Mojo,
your ex, i'm sure, will tell you that no one was getting in who wasnt on the list. so it seemed.
For those who asked, they did an internet essay contest, ie. write in and tell us why you wanna come to the stashbash. People who got chosen:
-Got an email with a special code that had to be presented at the door. Were told they had to present the actual email with the code, and a photo ID. And were told no guests, it was you.
Hey, if others got in, great! But it wasnt happening when I was there. Press were there and KS wasn't even letting them inside.
I reminded Jason that I knew him when he was the guy I smoked with at our friend Brians house for years. I knew Jason just before it all happened. Clerks was out here for a LONG time before the fame steamroller grabbed him. And he is still Jason. So I havent seen him in 3 years, and we both went sober, and when he saw me, we were both just like 'what the fuck happened to you?' and boom, like old times.
He still wants sex constantly. That's not a persona.
Kevin? This is all just sheer luck folks, but I live 10 mins from him, and we're both huge Laserdisc Fans, so I knew him as the guy buying all the Jaws box sets the day the Laserdisc Box Set comes out, and I'm like, you're buying BOTH! And he apologizes and hands me one, and we talk for an hour about CAV lasers and Kubricks weird aspect ratios and anamorphic lenses and his chick keeps coming over and saying lets go but he wants to talk.
I found out later that was Kevin, and the chick was Joey Lauren Adams.
Sadly, Kevin didn't remember shit about the above when I told him.
Way too weird.

Maybe. She had already cleared it with Vincent and Ming, but Kevin might have poo-poo'ed it. Mostly I'm just disapointed because I think it would have been coolest to go and run into you there. WORLDS COLLIDING!
Way, WAY back when I first joined the View Askew board (A few months before "Chasing Amy" came out) I actually wrangled my way into getting Jason Lee's ICQ #. We argued about music for the better part of a year before his account became inactive and he went on to bigger and better things.

This is cool? This was a fucking nightmare.
2000: I'm DJ-ing at the Stone Pony. 'Jaded' a piece of shit band with Tina Yothers is playing to maybe 60 people, 40 of which are family ties freaks. Ans they had Jason as MC.
Real Hollywood moment, eh? It was pathetic. Look at me, I'm 360 pounds, 80 of which seem to be Absolut. Fucking bloated balloon face. And Jason is wasted. And since he's MC and I'm DJ he get's to hang in the booth and we get more wasted and he's spilling beer all over my CDs, and the crowd is like crickets, and I had to keep talking on Mic, because Jason was too fucked up to say much besides, 'umm. whats up sluts, umm... here's the next band called, ummm...what are they...oh yeah, ok...heres....'. I wanted to deck him by the end of the night, then to top it off he wants me to drive him home. I forget what excuse I made.
Ugh! Look at Me! Fatty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd agree that maybe Wasted/Drugged Jay is Hysterical. But that fat fuck with the glasses on above probably would be in a very large grave now if I hadnt said, ya know, maybe I don't want to have a heart attack at age 35.

Now, since sarcasm doesn't always come across here, for the record...
It is really a sorry state that you had to post that for all the people with chibi sized empty plastic bento boxes for brains.
Perhaps some of us need to follow your lead and use purple fonts when we post our sarcasm.
As far as crossing over, I have almost completed my journey down the follicular Rubicon, just by letting nature run its course, and in my case it's downstream. The Kojak is tight, the only downside I noticed was that when I head butted you Friday my hands got all slimy. Small opportunity cost though.
So anyways,
You know what I love about this Board? All the people who substitute Google for natural erudition. Or those who superficially judge people without trying to get to know them. Or sketchy lurkers. Or the people who spread lies behind your back. And I just love the people who hide behind a computer screen and talk shit transmitted by electrons over cable wires that you inevitably find out about. But they won't say shit to your face.
Shock and Awe. The PeT is coming. You know who you are.

Sadly, some on this board think that if you're telling a story from your life that ISN'T boring as hell or involves someone even remotely famous, you're automatically gloating, bragging or showing off.
Fuck 'em. The rest of us that know better enjoy the killer tales of yore.
Mike, were you a regular on the VA board? Besides this one, that was the only online message board I was part of, and I was there from 1997 through early 2002 It was a lot of fun those first few years...Kevin and the actors always showing up, just shooting the shit. Even managed to get a copy of the never-released "Chasing Amy" soundtrack.

I've met both Paul and DFW a couple of times. They are both chill. Paul signed my limited cd edition of 14 songs and DFW signed my First Edition copy of Infinite Jest. But a wake up call would be cool. Knowing something about both of them, I would imagine it would be at 3PM though.
Paul is coming out with 2 new cds and dvd. DFW is way overdue after his magnum opus. The short stories and articles just tease me. He's at Pomona now, go Pomona!, one of the most amazing schools not many people on the east coast have heard of.

Fuck 'em. The rest of us that know better enjoy the killer tales of yore.
You're right. Fuck it. Done.
The other reason I sorta-kinda know these guys is I worked at WHTG FM 106.3 FM on-air, both AM [talk/news] and FM ['Your Rock Alternative'] as on-air jock. sheesh maybe I started around 1985 or something, when two guys named Rich Robinson and Chopper ran the place. And Matt Pinfielfd was the Music Director. More like THE MD. He kept winning so many awards it was sick. He was picking hit bands a year before they would hit. Time and again.
You Definately have seen or heard Pinfield. I have a feeling many on the board, especially anyone from the New Brunswick area, has met him. Short, fat, and balding by 20. But the fucking Rain Man of Music. I mentioned him to Ron, he knew all about him. When he left, he gave me 'Local Licks' the show where he broke local bands, and I had that for a few years.
Pinfield also landed the 120 Minutes Gig on MTV. Christ 2 hours of alternative videos. Christ it was great. Then he struck the Lottery with The Wiz. He got the national voice account. So he was all over.
In my stint I interviewed, um:
Material Issue [wow they were cool]
Primus [wow they were bad]
Anthrax [cool but tired]
Fishbone [completely insane. Actually fighting in the studio. Shouting match.]
Julian Cope [showed up in shorts and flip-flops.
Dramarama [John Easdale actually. Amazingly cool. He's jersey, I'm sure peeps here know him].
The Wonder Stuff filmed a concert movie, and part of it was filmed at WHTG. Pinfield calls me, since I live 5 mins away and play, and says get all your acoustics over here. Long story short, in a lot of scenes, especially his live performance in New Brunz, he's playing my Ovation Acoustic. [EDIT: 'He' = Miles Hunt of the Wonder Stuff. For a while, in the UK, they would regularly sell out Wembley. Never quite caught on here.]
Cheap Trick [all very cool, except Bun E. Carlos was having nothing to do with it. 'Wanna take a picture?' 'No.']
Highway 9 aka Mr. Reality [i know some here knows these guys]
Steve Van Zandt [he literally took over the show and played the coolest music ever. he has a radio show now.]
I was there when Pinfield was at the first [second?] lollapalooza and because of my size they hired me to run the artists to and from the interview tents. So I got to meet and in the case of Flea, actually walk him through a crowd with him grabbing me to hold on as the chick fans [and a few guys] were literally hurling themselves at him. Ow]. Then Keidis [quiet]. Chad [coolest in the world]. Al Jourgensen of Ministry [quiet and weird. giant cowbot hat.] Ice-T [I hardly knew who he was. I hadnt seen Boyz in the Hood. I was wondering why people were freaking so bad.]
And Jesus and MAry Chain and cant remember who else.
And of course, Kevin and Jason and Brian would come by all the time to plug some local appearence. Again, this was back in the day when Clerks was out, but an in-store signing at Compact Disc World would get 100 people max. It was out, but they were still local enough, and WHTG was the cool station around Monmouth County, so I saw them there too.
My website has a lot of pics.
And a shitload of local bands.
Gloaty Gloaterton signing off for now.
