my brother-in-law who happens to be one of the nicest people with the biggest hearts got attacked by a pitbull two days ago... he was doing a favor for one of his employees and had to go to the employees home. he had to pass the frontyard of the neighbors home where the pit bull was and had just rang the bell at the employees home when he turned and the dog began to attack him.
i just got off the phone with him and he said the dog was going after two areas, his groin and his face. he got bit near the eye where he had to receive 5 stitches and he got bit in the stomach and arm. My brother-in-law is a teacher and high degree blackbelt in Tae-Kwan-Do and it looks like his training saved him. He managed to kick the dog and the dog immediately no longer wanted any part of him.
He is upset at himself for being 'suprised' by the dog and not reacting quicker. he said the dog was lightning quick. He also said he was 'glad' it was him that got attacked and not some child or someone who had no defense. He realized this type of dog can actually kill a person.
i myself try to keep an open mind to some of the pitbull owners i've known who state it is 'how the dog is raised' but i am still convinced that these dogs should not be allowed to be pets. They are always fine until there is one mistake, then someone is scarred for life sometimes both physically and mentally.
