yeah, i thought season 2 was garbage. If its three years later they might actually move on from plosts that involve having Jack defuse like 6 bombs in a single day. Basing it on the fact that its a single day I'd rather the show be boring than have it be a shockfest because i want to be able to watch the entire thing in a single day when/if i get the DVD.

Well, I had a feeling he got himself hooked on drugs. But I wish that they actually had him go through with it at the end of the episode. I would love to see Jack Bauer crazy on the H. Or, if they used cocaine, seeing Jack Bauer doin lines.

But this was a great episode. My only minor problem with 24 is that they are much better on setting up storylines than they are finishing them. I hope this year is different.

The Toyota ad was a bad idea for the casual viewer. What if someone turned it on because they heard 24 was a good show and got the wrong idea and thought that was the show and tuned out?

The 24 opening pissed me off. With such a cliffhanger from last season to this season being set three years after is a letdown.

I like how they set up Kim's new storyline, having her punk out that annoying dick was smart.

Tony and whatsherface are married now and thats about all I learned about them.

The new dude working with Jack and banging Kim seems alright.

The President has jungle fever.

So Jack is addicted to drugs? Say it ain't so! Should make for an interesting day as he's going to try to kick the habbit.

I thought the show started out slow (as expected, gotta set things up), but ended strong and I can't wait until next week's episode!

This is just added to make his job more difficult as the season moves on by him collapsing and puking at critical moments. My only beefs are:
Can a person so important in a Security Dept really be hooked on Heroin..and no one would know?! what about drug testing in such agencies?

Was the Lawyer the ONLY person on the planet who DIDNT know that pen was going to kill him?

How is it..that its SO easy to infiltrate the CIA or whatever dept they work in? they had a few in each season..and you can already smell the presence of a few traitors on staff.

If Jack's office had those blackout windows, why didn't Jack/George/Tony ever use them before? There were a few situations where it looked like a clear box in the sky wasn't the best place for some of the activity that happened in there.

Was Jack's office the same office he was in during Season 1 and Tony had at the end of Season 2?

Tony and Jack are head of the two halves of CTU:LA so maybe that was a new office for this "Field Director" position jack is in.

Well, until last night, I wasnt sure if I was gonna be "into" this season. Season 2 was so much better than season 1 and I didnt think they could pull it off again. BUT it certainly looks like theyre off to a great start. Lots of new and interesting characters--including Michelle's breasts. Well, I really thought that Jack was already infected with the virus, especially when they explained that it takes 24 hours to kill you, I rolled my eyes and said how predictable...when they proved me wrong, I was so happy that this show will apparently keep surprising me through season 3.

It deals with Jack's drug habit, Chase and Kim dating and them telling him, the kid who is the drug mule that has the virus, a shocking revelation that Salazar tells the arden, and the president and the debate nd finding something out about his girlfriend.

One major spoiler is that, you will not believe this. It's even too shocking for 24. Read below if you want to know

They should replay the last weeks show every week before the new show. But they'll end up putting a crappy American Idol up before 24. Why can't they try a new format? American Idol brought lots of viewers into 24 last year that never watched it before. 24 also heavily advertised ont hat show even doing mini videos for the commercials. So that is a good thing. Joe Millionaire was suppossed to be both Monday and Tuesday. Now they canceled the Tuesday one because teh ratings are terrible so I think they will be replaying the week before on Tuesday until they can fill it with something else or until Americna idol starts early next year.

I keep thinking he was shot with something other than a regular bullet (perhaps he was infected, too). Unless he was just grazed & is bleeding heavily from his jugular or something, a shot to the head, neck, etc. should have dropped his ass dead almost instantly.

Anyone else get a weird feeling from that scene & the fact that there wasn't much mention of Tony in the previews except to see Jack kneeling with him? Maybe I'm overthinking it because they've had so many twists in the past, just something about that scene didn't seem right...just so random the way the guy shot him...but maybe that's the way a good surprise unfolds.

FOX has been getting a lot of complaints from viewers that they give too much away in the previews for the following week. They have responded - that they are aware of the complaints - so maybe they are sensitive to that. I stopped watching the coming attractions because last year they were giving away the entire episode sometimes! Remember when Michelle Forbes fell in the stairwell? They showed that the week before in the coming attractions. It just ruined too much.

Overall, great episode! I was shocked when Tony was hit - but there was something that even shocked me more. President Palmer gave the go ahead to give his girlfriend's ex husband money! The old Palmer would never have done that!

Not to mention she was on the short list to take over CTU if Michelle left. Hello??! Why would the bad guys attract attention to their virus boy by sticking him with a bag of faux heroin? Why not just infect him and track him. Yeah, season 2 fooled us with a fake bomb, but at least that served as a legit diversion, taking the agents away from the actual bomb. This bag of powder only attracted attention to the kid. why?
Hey, I still think it's entertaining as hell and better than most other things on tv right now, but it's really not living up to it's rep gained last year...yet anyway.

And no one ever mentioned Kim taking over CTU. That was a ploy by the director to throw people for a second till Michelle said she was staying.

The heroion was a red herring to control the boy. Kyle comes to Mexico and is infected. He smuggles the "drugs" over the border, then brings it to the buyer in the US. Hence, Kyle delivers himself to the "dealer."

And I'm not on the edge of my seat either, but I'm enjoying it.

I've got some questions regarding this Kyle Singer kid - how is CTU going to be able to contain the virus? Do they know exactly what to do with that?

The President's storyline (so far) this season has been a snoooooze. We need Sherry to show up and find out what the hell happened to Lynn from last season.

My guess is that Chloe will be dead by the end of the day at the hands of the mole at CTU, as well as the nosey a-hole working near Kim - Kim and Michelle will save the day at CTU (and will share a kiss when it's all overwith) - Tony will live.

Ramon's brother is being set up for a fall by his girlfriend - he's going to make a power grab the second Ramon gets back.

The Jack and Ramon storyline should be fun. I half expected Jack to pull a gun out and blast Salizar out of the helecopter. And, as AJ said, great "Dear Hunter" moment last night.

Yes...I remember the time it was used during Jack's torture last season. They are used all time on NY BLUE for both the violence and the nudity (my old girlfriend and I would call it more of a "promise" than a "warning!") The thing that WAS new (at least to me) was the "Guns are bad" message at the end of the show...I can see the parody spots already...

"In tonight's show we dramatised the use of a nuclear weapon..."

"If you are a blond teenage girl in the woods and your nipples are coming through your white blouse as a cougar approaches, please call this toll free number..."

Soooo...last night I was looking over some old photographs from my days about 10 years ago when I use to occasionally hob-nob with famous or almost famous or formerly famous people (I can't quite put Mickey D. to shame, because none of them I would consider a "friend," with the possible exception of Jonathan Demme).

One of my favorite pictures of myself with someone famous was someone who actually wasn't famous at the time - at least not in the United States.

It was 1993 or 1994, during the world premiere of CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, which was held in Washington DC. Harrison Ford couldn't make it in, because of plane troubles, however a couple of ther other stars from the movie - Willem Defoe and this other guy who played the villian in the movie - were there hob-nobbing.

The screening was a really big deal, because Viacom had just bought Paramount, so it was kind of a party for that as well. Something around 60% of Capital Hill RSVPed "yes" to the event, making it like an obscene episode of "Murphy Brown."

Colin Powell, Jesse Helmes, Ted Kennedy, on and on and on. All of the Democrats were there because it was Hollywood and all of the Republicans were there because it was Tom Clancy.

Any-who, I actually saw the movie the day before, as the projection people, ran the film all the way through to make sure there were no problems (a coupel of years earlier, during a similar screening in DC of DANCES WITH WOLVES, they got two of the reels mixed up - very funny! The only person who seemed to noticed was Costner).

So, when the reception began, I actually recognized the actor who played the villian, since I had seen it. No one else knew who he was, so I chatted him up for awhile, and had a good talk about movies, etc. Turns out he's like the biggest star in Portugal (or Argentina, or Peru...you get the idea). AFTER THE MOVIE, everyone recognized him, and he was being swarmed.

At one point, he tried to get away from some people by ducking into a group of me and my friends - everyone, by this point, was drunk, as Paramount/Viacom had spent $250,000 on this event, and the booze was flowing.

A girl I was with immedialty grabbed him and made him pose for a picture. I then took the opportunity and said I wanted my picture taken. Not missing a beat, he turns on his heels, and leans back on me, like he was my gay latin lover. The look on both of our eyes was pure drunkeness, and the picture has remained one of my favorites from that time.

So what's the fucking point??

The actor never did make it really big in the states. He's done some things here and there, maybe the biggest other thing he's done was star as the bad guy in DESPERADO...until now!

I am confused now about the whole virus and carrier deal. With Kyle being fine, is their another carrier? That body they dumped in the first episode was a real deal. The only other person that might make some sense as being a carrier is Jack, but than why would Hector want to bring him back. Also how is Gael going to explain about Kim now. Other people know Kim is in here. DOn't you think they will figure out she is missing. He better have her strip down.

The good thing about this show (well...one of many good things) is that they move very, very quickly. I don't think Kim's disappearance will be noticed for too long, and I'm sure the mole will be sniffed out by others, now that he seemingly has done what he set out to do - or has he?

They definately went to a lot of trouble trying to keep Singer out of the hands of CTU (shooting Tony in the neck!), so I will be very interested in seeing how they handle 'splaining that one.

The President's storyline may be the most difficult maintaining any real interest and suspence this season, unless something very interesting happens with his brother and the girlfriend's exhusband.

I am confused now about the whole virus and carrier deal. With Kyle being fine, is their another carrier?


I guess they could have set him up to distract CTU from the other source of the virus. Even have the Mole at CTU track Kyle in case he was being watched it would lead CTU to Klye (why didn't they park the truck inside so it wouldn't be seen?)

People within the Virus Terror plot may not have know Kyle was clean and that makes the distraction work well (they won't care about killing CTU people)

Jon, the bobcat comment still has me giggling (on the inside). My complaints/comments this week follow: Why did the writers make Palmer order Jack's death when as soon as he did it--oops no can do? Ok, fine--to make it look odd that he xxld the debate, but why did he have to betray Jack? And when Jack was in the subway, why didnt Chase TRY the public adress system? That Hospital must be right next door. The President's Girlfriend has been on the road for almost the full hour to get to her Ex to see these documents but Michelle was able to hang out at CTU, Capture the "Mole," drive to the Hospital, see Tony, Sign him out and drive back to CTU (with a badly hurt Tony, and having driven people from the hospital after the Doctor agrees it's okay to leave, it's not the fastest thing in the world)

Gael being a Triple Agent is a cool Idea, but shouldn't a few more people know (Like Michelle who risked her career last season for Jack, Doesn't Jack and Tony trust her yet?) Why did he threaten Kim if he's working to help her Dad? (not that he had to tell Kim anything, but the gun wasn't nessessary, just try her up and gag her)

I first thought Chase was in on it (Because he had a similar reaction to Tony's after hearing the news that Gael was a "Mole") but I thought He would know where Jack was going and would know not to go after him. SO was Chase told some other story? Is Chase a Mole working with Gael (who would be a Quadruple agent really working with the Salazars against CTU)

1)If he was a real terrorist he would have been much worse on Kim; he also didn't fire his gun at anyone when he was cornered.

What "WTF look" I'm not sure I follow. But I'm sure that Tony, Gael and Jack are working together. Jack had that James Bond watch to transmit the signal to Gael's PDA which Tony knew was a message from Jack.

I'm sure Jack isn't a mole, at least not a real traitor to CTU, he was a mole in the Salazar group. So Tony can't be a Mole (at least not because of this, who knows what will happen later)

Jack is back undercover in the Salazar group again? That needs a lot more splainin'. How can they trust him? Ramon wants to Kill him. I can see calling it even with Jack for freeing Ramon and just letting jack go but Why the Frak would Hector want Jack back in his group? Ramon was in charge and it will only take one person to side with Ramon against Hector to have Hector end up dead.

Exactly. Michelle proved herself loyal to Jack (Whom she hadn't met before that day!) and Tony by risking her career to protect and help Jack.

Chapelle isn't running CTU's LA office (Michelle was about to hand it over to Gael) but yeah, Chappele is "The Man" from district and should have been told (Was Tony shot in the neck before Chappele showed up? Jack was already gone I think, Only Gael was left, but could have told him, Why was he keeping it a secret after getting caught? They had no idea where Jack and Ramon were, so they couldn't interfer with Jack's plan to get back undercover. Telling Chappelle at that point wouldn't hurt, would it?)

Well, So far I'm loving this season. Even though I don't fully get it. Having Gael not just be another Mole is a good sign. Just hope they can keep it up...

They are supposed to trust each other. But Married people (or any couple) don't literally share EVERYTHING. You don't know EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of each other's existence.

Now they both have jobs that require secrecy while the project is in motion to ensure security and safety of the 100's of millions of people in The United States. Michelle should understand this. It's not like Tony withheld this information specifically from Michelle. They didn't tell anyone except those involved. Tony, Jack and Gael are the only people on the planet who knew (until they reveal some other twist) they didn't tell their superiors and may find themselves disciplined for that, but in order to have the mission work you gotta keep your trap shut sometimes.

Michelle should realize that Tony wasn't hiding something from Her; he was keeping the mission secret because they are SPIES! THAT'S WHAT SPIES DO. That's why Jack told Chase that the job doesn't work with relationships. Jack knows that you can't control both.

Women are crazy. This is why James Bond doesn't marry anyone; he just throws them the D.

Did Chase come down to Mexico? And Jack tried to shoot him?



President's girlfriend's exhusband did shoot himself (because he is a loser), and later, after handing David the proof she was innocent, she broke things off with the President because she couldn't live in his world.

Chase was captured by Ramon's men, and in order to prove he was now a bad guy, Jack was given a gun and told to shoot Chase - which he did, right in the head - only the gun was empty.

Turns out this entire season was a set up by Jack and Tony - the bad Mexicans never had the virus, but they believe Jack will get it for them, which is why they believe he's a bad guy.

I'm really enjoying the storyline at CTU - last night, the scene with Michelle, Tony and whassshisname was terrific.

The President's new storyline, out of left field, leaves a little bit to be desired. It does open it up, however, for the return of Sherry AND Lynn (!)

Really felt like I did watching the cougar episode last season; how many more times can Nina be involved in something to screw up Jack? How did she get out of jail, again??

Then, it didn't matter, because I remembered this is 24 - impossible shit happens all the time - and Nina is a great villian. This season was in desperate need of a femme fatale.

I do hope Max shows up again (they guy on the boat) even if he's not involved with Nina on any level. They do still have the prez affected by the Handjob that Naked Mandy gave him and Max hired Mandy to do that. There was also that guy who seemed to be Max's boss (he was eating at an outdoor Cafe while on the phone with Max who was on a boat during that last couple hours of day 2)

Nina looked so hot last night.

We have to find out what Jack wispered to Nina after that "holding Jack at gun point" episode.

Ramon and Hector keep switching support for Jack. They both want to kill him but can't ever agree on when. They shouldn't keep doing that, it's getting old.

I still don't understand why they didn't want to tell Kim about Nina.

Her Dad's was in serious danger and so is her boyfriend (I missed Tony found out, I guess he just knew since he's the boss and knows what's going on)

They both could have been dead at any time, and both are still in danger.

She works in the place where her Mom was killed (kissing Chase in a room that looks a bit like the same room where Nina killed Teri) so I think she'd be able to take the news that Nina (who killed her Mom and was let go in a pardon from the President) is involved.

It's going to come out anyway (someone going to notice since she's the one trying to buy the fucking virus they have been tracking!)

Well this story is NUTTTTSSSS. So many plot twists some of which are ridiculous, but I am excited to see the next show week after week. Why can't David just PRETEND to fire his brother? Like an old guy is gonna notice whether he really did or not. His wife, like always, will continue to fuck things up for him. Kim is a ditz, i hope she either A) Gets a somewhat decent important storyline (unlikely) or B) has the virus. I just remembered Palmer's disease, where the fuck is that going? Like always this show isn't afraid to take on 4 thousand storylines but seems to wrap them up towards the end. We still got ten hours, and we know all that can happen in ten hours.

Wow, just found this thread. Nice. I'm loving this season, but I have to admit the Palmer stuff has been boring to excess. The 1 thing I love about this show is the soap opera themed storylines are kept to a bare minimum. Now I'm supposed to care about Wayne (not Brady) having an affair with Benson's father's wife (looks just like him).
At least the Kim supermarket with stereotype Mexican was entertaining in a bad way. Palmer is just straight up boring.

Well, about Salazar - he had been in jail for a few months. I guess they found out about Amador and the virus, and knew the Salazars had the money and criminal background such that Amador wouldn't think that something was up if they bought it. So, Jack breaks Ramon out, Salazars trust him again, buy the virus, CTU swoops in, gets the virus, gets everyone into jail.

yeah, Logic is right. Jack was working on getting Salazar for a year or so (He mentioned it but I can't remember exactly)

They had ties with Terrorists that go beyond this current virus situation. But since Jack had a previous cover with them he used it (That's Jack's MO, he did the same with Walsh from Day 2)
