Well, they didn't give Jack the money directly, they are trusting him (to a point) because he has the connection to the virus seller who could make the Salazars TONS of money. They would do some kind of Wire transfer to Amador's client.

Also in these kind of shady illegal buisness transsactions (and many legitimate buisness transactions) you don't trust the people you are dealing with anyway, that's why they all have guns. Jack can make them some money, so they'll see where things will go, then try to kill Jack.

Short answer: it's a TV show.

Jon, I had been looking forward to 24 all day too, until I kept hearing about the State of the Union. I totally didn't hear the "Two weeks from tonight" during the previews last week. "TV's favorite Villianess"? Is that right? Was there a vote? Is she really a villian? Nina would be a villian, she killed people, Sherry isn't that bad.

Does Shit canned mean fired? because she wasn't going to be fired, just suspended. And that didn't even happen because Michelle says she's the best at some tech task (I lose track of the tech talk on this show and I work in IT, because it's so fake)

Chappelle then said Kim will take care of the baby while Chole does what ever the hell she does. No one said anything about Kim being needed to do something since she the best at it. I don't take the show seriously, so I let a lot go by without worrying too, too much. I just have fun with it. The only times I don't enjoy the show is when things get too *real*, like in season 2 with the dude who beat his kid, and then killed his wife, and was after Kim, or this season with the drug addiction - those seem like normal problems compared to everything else, and they always make me uncomfortable.

Chase has annoyed me from the start, and last night with his constant pleading to be put in the way really make me wish he gets it by the end of the day...he has become this seaons' Kim, in that he constantly gets himself into shit that other people have to fix, or he gets out of it by dumb luck.

Pah!

The stuff at CTU got boring again - it was good there the first few hours. I can't believe they are tying Kim to the office for the whole day! And now she's a babysitter?! What the hell are they thinking - she needs to be out, getting into mischief, and pronto. And Cloe needs to bite it too.

The President finally has an interesting story line, but I just laugh the way they bring up that Sherry KNOWS SOMETHING SO VERY IMPORTANT AND SCARY! OOOOOH! OOOOOOOOH!

He should know better than to trust her with this inch - and Jack should know better than to let Nina live for one second more, regardless.

The fact that Ramon is now the only person who believes Jack is a little head-scratching, but I guess getting Nina, and handing him the gun, Jack has given Ramon no reason to think otherwise.

Pretty pissed that Fox ruined the episode by showing Hector walking away from Ramon as there were screaming and a gun shot - basically giving away the last scene.

This is a serious question (I'm not trying to be a dick)...am I forgetting where Nina found out Jack had anything to do with Claudia? I know what you're talking about, Nina definitely noticed the genuine emotion in Jack's face at the news she was dead, but I didn't think she knew anything about Claudia before that point. I took it as Nina, who knew Jack intimately, recognizing his true shock/feelings about the situation.

I've tried three of the four flavors Atkins makes - Nacho, Sour Cream and Onion and plain. The first two were actually pretty tasty - I really like the sour cream and onion - but the plain is horrible. Also, any of the non-Atkins brands of chips I find pretty nasty - it's really nasty.

They didn't open the vile of virus, as long as it's not opened then it's okay.

Now, unless she did indeed fake the test and let Amador know ahead of time that things weren't going as planned, Why the Frig would she let Amador take the virus out of her site after testing it? I would have just said "Leave it right her where we both can see it while I call the bank" (Now, where is this bank? they are open this time of night? Must be in Europe where it's morning.

How the hell did Amador not get shot? At least 3 guys had their guns on them, not one of them took a shot at amador when the ambush happened?

We lose Hector and Ramon within 1 hour? Now our main bad guy is Amador?

How is Chase doing anything with a bullet hole in his hand?

I like David Palmer and the guy who plays him, but the whole Palmer plot line sucks ass. so does the abused baby plotline. Unless these tie into the Virus plot then why are we seeing it?

IF they were real badassssses, they would have let Jack get killed, and then intercepted them like they were suppose to - Chase jumps in ahead and threatens to turn things into a fuster cluck.

THe President would have known about whatshisname and the drunk driving thing - he would have at least known there was an accident that might or might not have invovled him. Still, it's a good thing for Sherry to follow up on.


Do you think it was made clear that Chloe lied to Kim about the baby? When the babysitter dropped the little girl off, it certainly appeared like it was a regular thing - that the babysitter was use to watching the kid, but just couldn't that day. It didn't come across as a baby that was being hidden from an abusive mother's boyfriend, whatever.

Hopefully THIS will be a spark to get Kim out of CTU.

Good episode - maybe some action with Kim (finally) now that we know about the baby; I've turned a corner with Cloe (I loved her response of "I know" when someone told her what a good job she did - reminds me of someone I actually know) - I use to hate the loony bitch, but damn, she is good; I can't believe that Jack fell for Nina's trap - even I knew she couldn't have known that code and set of numbers for Almador off the top of her evil little head; I was hoping Jack would just open fire and blast Nina out of he plane; really not sure how I feel about Milican dropping dead like that with Sherry there (does Milican's wife have a bigger role in all of this?); do we care who the mother really is of Chase's baby: who is a bigger baby, Chase OR his daughter?

A great episode last night, and what's better is that now that they're back in LA and there's no more crap with the Salazar's & everyone's on familiar turf, it's only going to get better as thy track this virus through the city.

The spoilers mentioned a scene of Kim stopping the guards when Nina passed her early last night, she then punched Nina in the face. Later she apologized to Tony for being unprofessional, he said something like "Don't worry about it, if you didn't do it I would have"

I suppose that will be on the DVD deleted scenes disc this Chistmas.

Again, No Gael. and Micheal Bolton has gained a lot of weight.

They had to kill off Nina. Having her escape and show up on "Day 4" would have been so lame (it was lame for her to show up on Day 3!)

I didn't even think about that...Tony got sprayed pretty good & was more worried about saving Nina for questioning. I wonder if the HIV story was a scare tactic, or he was Tony just too preoccupied to care about the blood at the moment it happened.

Also, what was Nina doing in that particular room again? I can't remember the scene vivdly enough...when Kim walked in was she fooling with phone lines, computer equip., setting a explosive charge, etc.? Will there be more to that than just the poetic justice of her being shot in that room?

All those people in the hotel will end up dead. Not a spoiler, just a guess because of the way Tony and Michelle looked at each other as she left. Tony and Michelle have been upset with each other for stupid things* so that will set up a scene where Tony and Michelle are on the phone or talking through a plastic bubble saying that they are sorry for being upset at each other and how they wished they didn't waste this little time together. Two of Tony's loves will end up dead in just a few hours.

*Stupid things Tony and Michelle are mad about:

1 Tony mad that Michelle was going with information from Kim that Tony's messing up on the job and since he was just SHOT IN THE NECK she made sure so that people would die from a mistake he made

2 Michelle mad that Tony didn't tell her about Jack's Super Double Secret Spy mission, despite that fact that SHES A SPY AND SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR SECRECY!

3 Michelle mad that Tony made her look bad in a meeting. I would be mad at Tony as well, but not for the reason she is, I would be upset because the reason for the Interpol findings not being updated should have nothing to do with CTU. Interpol doesn't depend on CTU for updated Intel. They have a database that CTU would be able to access. If they didn't update their logs in the past few hours, so what? They just need to look into the database in the past few minutes before the meeting and have whatever information on Alvers that Interpol has available. Tony was in charge for the past several hours (since 8pm when he came back to CTU and revealed Jack's super secret mission) so why are they blaming Michelle? But that's just 24 logic, so I dismiss it and call it a dumb reason to be upset

* Is there a threat of the virus getting out of the building now that the window was smashed open?

* Is there a chance that the President makes the decision at the end of this day/season that he will NOT run for reellection again?

Well worth the wait especially, now that we rollercoaster downhill all the way to the ending. Michelle was great last night...too bad she's gonna die. After Tony taking a bullet to the neck & surviving, if they find the miracle cure & she lives, then we're getting too hokey. I'll miss her terribly.

Furtherman - interesting call on the bad guy being Nina's brother. I doubt that's it, considering she didn't know who Amador was working for, but I'm sure it'll be some very interesting twist.

I'm still waiting for one final swerve by a (fairly) main character, we haven't had a good heel-turn in a few weeks. My hope is that Palmer or Wayne decides it's just easier to kill Sherry. But, I've been hoping for her death for 2+ years now, so I won't count on it.

The set up with having the President by the short hairs was also pretty good.

For the sake of disbelief, I'm going to say that it would diffuse through the air and not be concentrated enough to infect people at too far a distance. Alternatively, having people as carriers allows them to get in close to others and pass the infection.

What a great f'n hour of TV.

The only hiccup was when Michelle slipped the "some people will be immune, but most of us will die" line in there. I started to feel like they were going to get cheesy with this virus, but I kinda figured they would find a way to keep Reiko around in case they decide to go with a 4th season. And more Reiko definitely = more gooder, so I'm not complaining.

And the rest of the show was just great. Gael's faith not letting him takes his life, the uneasy feeling when for a second there I thought Michelle was contemplating "helping him out" anyway, Jack needing a moment to think about Saunders, then admitting "..we left him behind, I left him behind."

Now that the Sopranos are clearly not on the level they were during season 1 & 2, this is easily the best hour of TV every week.

- The virus in the hotel is a new strain, which has an accelerant in it.

- The virus that was dumped at the CDC in 3.1 had the original strain.

So perhaps this new virus isn't completely lethal, because the accelerant has changed it.

Random question - the spoilers didn't say - has Michelle shown any signs of infection?

I have a hunch... stupid hunch, really... that Michelle is pregnant and somehow, that's what saving her, if she's showing no signs.

DAMN what an intense episode. When they blew open that door & saw only a little bit of equipment on a friggin card table, my heart jumped into my throat & stayed there to the end. And I liked the subtlty of the silent clock at the end.

Then, I immediately rewound the tape of the Sopranos & one of the first scenes is father Phil presiding over someone else's funeral...total TV mind-fuck. This episode was well worth the wait & now I'm even than usual to my next fix, NICE! Who needs WWE PPV?

For a brief, brief moment I thought Chapelle would survive the hour, but the second they got to the door I remembered "Silence of the Lambs," and knew we had been had, and that Chapelle was a gonner.

Damn!

Just painful as hell to watch. I was relieved when Ryan offered to kill himself, only then to be brought back to the moment when he couldn't.

DAMN! DAMN!

What an amazing, intense episode!

The only flash of humor was there, towards the end, when Jack asked Ryan if there was anyone he wanted to call, and he thought about his brother and decided not to, then adding that he didn't have that many friends. No shit! "Only the people at work." Ironically morbidly funny.

And then, at the very, very end, the cut to the time ticking away, only this time without any audio...woooo! Douche chills!!!

A memorable exit, which is the way you want to go out on "24." Just like the CTU leader from last season who blew up with the nuclear bomb in the desert. Just like Nina getting plugged. Just like Jack's wife.

And was that a CHEER from across the land when, during the preview for the next episode, they revealed that Kim would be leaving her desk?!

HUZZAH! HUZZAH!

This season started really strong, but a little wobbly, then got bogged down in the middle, and now has really picked up as they sprint towards the end - with the addition of the hotel under quarentine, and a villan so brilliant he is two steps ahead of Jack at every turn.

I was afraid of that nearly the whole episode last night because I thought that was the one thing that could bring the whole season down. Not to an unenjoyable level, but it might cause me to channel surf everytime she was on the screen & wind up missing something good while I was gone.

Oh, I'm sorry! I thought we were talking about 24. A show that had Kim get kidnapped 3 or 4 times, get arrested for car theft, kidnapping and murder, cause a police car to crash, get stalked by a cougar, shoot a car window to avoid a 5th kidnapping and then kill her boss during a single 24 hour period last year, and all that was after her father asked her to leave town because of the nuclear bomb that would go off in LA that day. I love 24 but it's not a realistic show.

Now that the president is actually involved with the Virus Plotline, I'm paying attention to his scenes:

I was yelling at his cabinet during that "So what did Saunders say when you refused to deliver the federal agents body to him?" scene. Aren't these the same fucks that were so gung-ho to start bombing a country even though there might be evidence that it might not be the right thing to do that they pulled Palmer out of office in the middle of the night? Now Palmer kills one person when pinned down by someone willing to kill millions of Americans and they are worried about killing people?

And I had the same reaction when Jack was upset about the Kim decoy plan. It was his fucking idea! Tony didn't just put Kim out there for no reason, Jack insisted in doing a switch and knew Saunders daughter was about the same age as Kim.

Maybe unrealistic wasn't quite the word I should have used, after all amnesia in a plotline is never under any circumstances realistic. Still, however, Michelle has been in absolute direct contact with how many peolpe that have already shown symptoms? Pretty much everyone in the damn hotel. Plus, I think it would make it really itneresting if she did die and then either at the tailend of this season or the next Tony basically just totally loses his mind.

They've already addresses the fact that not everyone who comes in contact with the virus gets sick. And being in contact with people who do get sick doesn't matter, everyone in the hotel was exposed via the virus in the A/C system, it spread very well in the air.

Holy fuck that was by far the best episode yet in my opinion. They were just screwing with you the whole episode right up until the end. Previews looked good too, more tension between Jack and Tony, Michelle kidnapped, and Sherri telling that Palmer covered up the murder...FN AWESOME, Now Im all hyped up and cant wait till next tuesday!

And to think, it couldve all been prevented had Jack just gone up there instead of letting him "think" it over...

No, it wasn't him. I have been hoping that Max (or Naked Mandy) would show up again on this third day. Max was that guy on the boat for the last two episodes on the second day, the one Kingsley worked for. I do like the tie in with the first day and Victor Drazen.

That's the first thing I thought as well, and I was terribly disappointed in the writing because of it. But now I question myself because I don't remember watching Michelle walk out of the building. Tony told her to go, but we never saw her leave (right?).

So, perhaps (a) she's being held somewhere in the building by Saunders' people, which would go a long way to prove the suspicion that (b) there is a vaccine/cure/something that's been taken by his people who knew they would be putting themselves right in the path of the virus.

She's so harshly annoying, something tells me she going to wind up being a hero at the end of the season. That's not to say that she hasn't been a huge asset in CTU already during this day, but she's so grating on the nerves that there has to be some crescendo payoff to her character. Hopefully she'll attain that hero status by somehow managing to take a bullet for Jack. Man I hate her.

To answer the nitpicks:

Michelle was seen getting into a van towards the end of the episode. So she has left the hotel.

The guy on the motorcycle was a red herring, something to throw us off - thinking Kim was getting kidnapped, when in reality it was Michelle. Towards the end of the episode, when they do the trademark 4-pane shot, the background behind Kim in the car is moving - which means they are still on the way to CTU.

Also, I love the red herring with Chloe, where you don't know if she's evil or just a dumbass.

** Another nitpic - and Adam brought this up - how do we *KNOW* it's his sister? Did Chloe do some sort of crosschecking? Did Adam talk to his sister to get confirmation that she's sick?

The virus is already out, so it's no longer a provention situation, it's a containment one. If she's not going to leave LA, it's not as high a priorty. Esp. since she's going from building to car to building.
