I hurt my finger while opening a coconut.

I was opening a coconut, using the screwdriver and hammer method. I knocked in two of the three holes, and then drained the juice in a cup. I drank some, disregarding the pieces, and then used the hammer to crack the shell. Then I was left with several largish pieces that needed to be hammered a bit further to seperate the coconut meat (is it crazy that this is the term, is it crazy) from the shell.

It was then that the accident occurred. Trying to angle the shell so that the meat would pop off unscathed, I hammered my finger.

It hurt.

No, I managed to safely place the cup with the juice out of range prior to the subsequent hammering. I like coconut juice, but for some reason it is a little weird to drink it.

It was all because of the angle. I did not want to hit the piece to smash it, I gave a lighter short swing, and the curvature of the shell sort of caused the hammer to slip downward toward my finger. It does not hurt so much right now, as this episode happened several weeks ago. I would like to purchase another coconut, as it was tasty, but I do not want to go through the risk just yet. I have not seen any coconuts in the supermarket since then anyway.
