Road warrior Hawk passes away

Mike Hegstrand, part of perhaps the most successful tag team ever on the U.S. wrestling scene, the Road Warriors, passed away at about 1:30 a.m. last night. Further details are unavailable. He is believed to be either 45 or 46.

Oh my. When I last saw them a few months ago on Raw and they were missing a LOT of spots I never would have thought this was going to happen.

So many wrestlers dying...

Unfortunately, I can't really say that I'm shocked, given stories of his heart problems in the past.

I'll always fondly remember their kick-ass NWA days... before the watered-down WWF version.

Peachy you are so right. They had the big metal spikes on the shoulder pads. They were the only NWA figures I ever owned.

Damn. I've always been a huge Road Warriors fan. One of my all time mark out moments came at the first ECW invasion Raw in 1997 at the Mahattan Center when the LOD returned.

I was planning to go to a wrestling convention in December called "Fan Slam" where the Road Warriors were scheduled to appear. I was really looking foward to meeting them. Rest in Peace Hawk.
